their new album was probably their best one.

 

I’ve never encountered anyone being a bigger asshole at a show that the guy controlling the merch room at this Lorna Shore Xmas show in New Jersey. Like I was so baffled by his behavior I had to come in here and post this.

 

What happened?

 

Has anyone else noticed this has been happening more and more lately? (especially post-COVID)

 

People being rude? It's nothing new

 

so at the Wellmont they have a merch room, and Lorna Shore a bunch of the other bands have show exclusive merch etc. while I got in and I’m waiting in the line to get in the merch when the doors first open the venue staff decides that no one can wait in line for merch and tells everyone they have to clear the lobby, and go into the venue and come back after the show for merch. You can’t stand in the lobby either you go in the venue or leave. It’s a pretty big lobby. The guy starts physically putting his hands on people and pushing them out of line. This is venue staff putting his hands on people. So the day goes on and they are still keeping up with this, with like two bands left people have finally had enough and start creating their own line, again the lobby is big, it’s an orderly line, and the venue staff starts threatening to shut merch down (which I’m sure they take a cut of) if people don’t listen. Me being an adult who has been to honestly between 800-1000 shows in my life explains to the guy, like in metal and punk merch is an important part of the show, you have to just let people get merch at some point.

Besides that they were very thin on staff, Lorna Shore called them out during the set for taking way to long to help some injured people in the pit and they were policing everyone for everything they did. The Wellmont obviously doesn’t get that much metal and we’re very ill equipped to handle it. Shitty venue, shitty and mean staff.

 

It was an all around strange vibe there last night, it felt weird. It seemed like there were a bizarrely high number of medical emergencies completely unrelated to the pit, I was on the floor & honestly it was way tamer than I was expecting.

 

you just could tell they did that thing that venues that don’t host a lot of metal do, where they assume it’s gonna be a bunch of problems and bad behavior and they treat people like shit to start, which honestly couldn’t be further from the truth. A metal show like that everyone is super polite and there to have fun.

 

Haven't been to the Wellmont Theater in a while but there was a time when Bowery Presents would book indie bands that drew well in NYC and the shows would fail spectacularly. I saw Miike Snow play to a venue that was maybe 1/5 full there in 2013 and both LCD Soundsytem (w/Sleigh Bells) and Bloc Party each couldn't sell it out.

 

can honestly say that outside of the staff at the chameleon in Lancaster one of the most rude and ignorant staff of any venue I’ve ever been to. Just plain mean and nasty. But on the other note Lorna Shore sold that shit out, balcony seating and all.

 

The way it’s written makes it seem like the band Thursday is opening for them, not that it’s happening on the Thursday before the Super Bowl
