This tweets by LJG give an interesting inisght on how much money bands make from touring, regarding on how many bands have had to cancel tours in the last months as its not financially viable.

 

Good role to be in that management role. You have to do a lot of hard work but you get to collect that 10% and you don't have to schlep across the world on a tour bus or van.

 

I mean, 10% gross for management and agents is pretty standard in the entertainment industry. They’re omitting a bunch of info so it’s not a complete look at the financials. At some point you also have to take into account that expenses are tax deductible, there’s creative accounting that can occur. At some point you have to look at the guarantee and make smarter money spending decisions… there’s no reason why they wouldn’t know a rough net profit/loss before leaving the country - contracts are in place and arrangement made

 

Oh yeah I know it's standard, I was just pointing out if you're good at being a manger, it's a good gig. THAT being said, I imagine you have to be available 24/7 365 for the acts you manage which could probably be taxing.
