for sure, i could see it changing, and maybe kind of soon. but as of now one is definitely bigger than the other and it isn’t phoebe. none of this matters lol.

 

Had tickets to see Tigers Jaw right when everything shut down due to Covid. Hoping the tour they're announcing today has a date near me but I'm not expecting much lol.

 

Brendan Murphy from Counterparts/END mentioned in the Hardlore Podcast that there will be a end of the year headliner for Counterparts in support of A Eulogy For Those Still Here and support with be from END.
Brendan is gonna destroy himself doing double sets every night lol.

I thunk The Used were only on select dates, but now might be on more since some dates of that Rise Against tour passed

 

That totally makes sense, that RA tour just went through Oklahoma City a few days ago

Is it common practice for venues to take a cut from merch sales? Sounds scummy af

 

I know bigger venues definitely do. I remember You Blew It said they had a 20% merch cut when they played The Fillmore in Detroit when they opened for The Wonder Years.

 

I think that happens across the board, especially in arenas. MSG in NYC is notorious for taking a huge cut which is why merch there is always so expensive.

 

Merch cuts are pretty standard for venue bigger than a small club (and probably at a lot of those too). Definitely shitty.

Edit: I can at least see the rationale for bigger tours where the venues/production companies hire people to sell merch, but it's certainly not limited to those cases.

Yup most venues do but only take "soft" aka clothing, not physical music.

Blame the agents though, it's part of the deal and in the show contracts

 

Warped Tour also did that for all non-Kevin Says bands on the tour.

 

Back in the early 2000s Less Than Jake sold their merch out of a van in the car park in Manchester as a way of avoiding this and to stop people buying knock off merch outside after the show

 

Yes merch cuts are incredibly common place at pretty much any venue 400+ cap. A lot of the times venues won't take cuts from the openers, however that's not always the case.

And as said a few posts ago in this thread, it is indeed something that's agreed upon when the shows are booked with the agent.

 

Probably a 2nd MSG 1975 date to be added given the 2 day gap.

 

Hot damn. That Lorna lineup is seriously one of the best heavy lineups of the year. That'll be a fun one.
