    forbidden chalice.

I just watched the music video for Reminders for the first time and something about listening to the lyrics in the context of the video really did it for me. I started tearing up at the end too. Super sold on that song now

I really wanted to like this, and I thought Come Heroine was a great opener, but I’m not sure this record works for me. I’m hoping my mind will change.

Come Heroine/Lament/Savoring is the sound I like them to lean into.

    This.
This has just enough creativity, yet it's just enough of a stretch. A+ pun.

I like this a lot at first listen, but it'll take a few more to sink in. Limelight remains the highlight for me.

I know I have probably been annoying af with the Ross talk but his drum sounds are p much always fucking sick and unique to each record. can I talk about how the piccolo snare on Life is Peachy is one of my favorite things ever for a sec? it sits at the perfect intersection between absurd and fucking badass and sits so wonderfully in the mix since there’s so much happening with the low end in that band.

also if y’all aren’t cowards and aren’t afraid of a little groove/nü in your metal, highly encourage you check out Roots by Sepultura. Deftones fans might recognize Max Cavalera’s voice from the song Headup. anyway, the band is Brazilian and they worked with native tribes on the record and there’s a ton of incredible percussion (the album ends on a long percussive jam that was obviously recorded outside in the dead of night somewhere), and it’s such a cool dynamic. I listened to it for the first time a few weeks ago and was p instantly all in.

the only album I have heard by him that I didn’t like the sound of is The Canyon, idk what happened there but it probably didn’t help that The Used are not a very good band at this point in their career. I really want to see more modern heavy bands to work with him.

I quite enjoyed reminders in context of the album sorta reminded me of crime in stereo a bit. Whole album is quite enjoyable. Trying not to overplay this too fast.

Into the Vanishing Light by Night Verses might be my favorite album Ross Robinson has done except for maybe Worship and Tribute

    hmmm

Roots also notable for getting the most apoplectic vocal performance of Max Cavalera's career; no mean feat.

a lot of the guitar tones on this remind me of Xerxes’ Collision Blonde ... underrated album

    Speaking of "reminders":

Monday night 10/12 at 9pm eastern there will be a record release show with the band including a Q&A and live performances:

Was kinda saving a full listen until I had my vinyl and I got that yesterday so...

i think this is their best sounding album. Ross Robinson captured the best parts of this band perfectly.

I wish Justice’s back ups stood out a little more in Come Heroine, but very minor complaint there.

No real weak songs upon first listen.

This will definitely be in the top three of their discog along with PTSBBAM and Stage Four, but I can’t place it just yet.
