I always thought it was kind of an extension, or spin off if you will, to The Weight. Both songs seem to be about Marriage and how lightly people take it now days and don't seriously commit.

They played them back to back in the M/m tour.

    Man, I loved that set.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Dustin said that when it came out. It's pretty much a sequel to The Weight.

Speaking of spin-off tracks, has anyone else felt that The Long Defeat is something of a companion or follow-on to Flags of Dawn? I've always thought there were some intentional parallels in there, both lyrically and musically. Even the swell of sound in the beginning of Long Defeat sounds similar to the outro electronic sounds in Flags.

Weeks ago? When/where did they say they were self-producing PART of their next record (aside from today)?

The little alchemy index video they posted today was kinda weird.

Hope they dig deeper into the actual creative process on the next couple vids.

I wish I understood their reasoning. Perhaps, they want a number of different vibes throughout the record. Or, they're just saving money. Why mess with such a good formula, though? Eric delivered their best SOUND yet.

I disagree I think beggars is their best sounding record, I like the rawer side of the band and think that album has way better guitar tones

I’m 1000% assuming based on interviews, that it’s to allow some more experimentation within the record.

Loved the last one, but the song structures seemed very produced...if that makes sense.

I like the production a lot on TAI so I'm not worried.

    Wondered that for years lol.

Listened to Beggars last night, still a really great sounding record. As far as the m/m song discussion I haven't spun that in a while, but Promises was by far my least favorite song on that album

Beggars is their best sounding record and At The Last is a certified jam thanks
