I don't think we're gonna see TAITA as a part of these represses from Vagrant. So far everything repressed has been something Vagrant's had the rights to. I'd love to see Live At The House of Blues get an official vinyl pressing next in the first place if we're talking about things they actually can do.

Anthology'd also be great, but I'm not sure who owns the rights to that one at the moment.

The reality is, Mars hill was biblical on all that stuff for the most part. Gender roles? Biblical. Masculinity? Okay, this one was a bit off. Homosexuality? Biblical as far as I recall. I haven’t listened or read stuff from them in like a decade.

Driscoll was taken in by John Piper. Huge endorsement to the biblical crowd.

It was his interpretation of the Bible. It's easy to cherry-pick and take things out of context, especially if you're a literalist. But that's probably a conversation for a different thread.

What a strange thing to bring up. Thrice is is good place. Dustin seems like a real great guy. Actually, all the members in Thrice seem like great guys. They’ve been at this for a long while now and it’s still the same four members making music together, and all contribute to writing music for the band.

Sure. I’m not saying don’t ask the question or it’s a dumb question. Just strange or out of the blue since that well in the past and the band is working on new music and touring and you’d expect more talk about it. And I don’t think it requires an answer or explanation if he doesn’t want to. It was part of his personal life and possibly dealing with grief and exploring his spirituality maybe? Sometimes where you turn isn’t the best place at times of weakness (and it was acknowledged in the question Dustin was on the right side of things).

If you want an answer to that, Twitter message him. See if he replies if you’re looking for clarity.

Initially I wrote a much longer post. But yea, not really the thread for in-depth theology. So I’ll leave it at this.

It was not his interpretation alone. Saying it’s without context his a laughable comment to make about a guy like Driscoll. He has issues, obviously, but lacking context is absolutely not one of them. And it’s 100% not just his, there are a massive amount of the best Bible scholars who would agree with him.

I studied scripture for a solid decade. Im not really a Christian anymore, but my knowledge doesn’t just go away. I’m open to being wrong, seeing as I don’t really view it as the truth anymore, but I highly doubt you could say anything to go against this stuff that I haven’t already heard and seen discredited before.

Edit: gonna leave this up for transparency sake. But, I realized that I don’t really care what you think about it. I don’t really care about it. Just old instincts kicked in. But I literally have nothing to gain by defending this. My bad. Hope you have a good day.

Can anyone tell me who's been going up first at these concerts? Don't care for Bayside and have a confilict the same time I will be at the concert so trying to do it all.

Anthony from Bayside said whoever your venue lists first is the headliner that night.

Wow, looked at the set lists so far and I’m no longer bummed it’s not coming here. Now it’s more likely they’ll come on their next (hopefully headlining) tour.

So far they played 12 and then 13 songs. I know it’s a co headliner but damn dude. Both bands have such a vast discography that both need a 20 song set to feel satisfying to me. I’m sure it’s still a great time for those of you who go. But, for me, I’d leave kind of bummed.

Yeah, the setlist is pretty weak even if it is a co-headliner. The setlist from their co-headliner with Circa back in 2017 was better and longer. Obviously, they released two albums since then, but they aren’t even playing anything from Palms on this tour. Made my decision for today way easier.

And this is more of a thing that irks me more than probably everyone, but a cover in such a short set? Come on. I’m there for Thrice songs, not someone else’s. In a nice long set it’s not as much as an issue to me.

It’s a dope cover, but, yeah, I would save covers for headlining sets where you have the space. Beggars is my favorite album from them and it’s a bummer to see nothing from it in the setlist.

With that said, credit where credit is due, it’s cool that their busting out Still Life and Music Box.

Isn’t the cover from that era? Obviously not the same thing as actually playing from the album, but technically could represent that album to them.

and it’s a fine cover, but I generally like maybe 5% of covers? The rest I hear once and go, “okay, that’s certainly a cover of that song. I never need to hear it again though.” That’s just not what I want from a band when I see them live.

I mean, playing a song from their new album and one from an album they did a full tour on in 2020 isn’t that surprising or special in my eyes. Great songs, don’t get me wrong. But they feel totally expected.

    Go birds Supporter

Yeah, the cover is from around the Beggars era, but I would much rather see them play Circles or At the Last or even Answered from the album than a cover.

I agree with you about Still Life. It was likely only a matter of time before they gave it its due, but I would never expect Music Box or Like Moths to Flame even if they did the anniversary tour for Vheissu back in 2020. Those songs are absolutely deep cuts. The only songs from that album I ever expect them to play are The Earth Will Shake and Of Dust and Nations. Sometimes they throw in For Miles or Red Sky, but everything else is pretty rare at this point.

I’d argue it’s pretty common for a band to do a full album set and then go on to include deep cuts in the following tours. This is only the second tour since the Vheissu tour. It would be more surprising if they hadn’t done that tour.
