It didn’t grow on me tho. I loved it from the start.

Salt and Shadow was probably my TBEITBN grower

The long defeat went from being a song I like to one of my favorite thrice songs ever after a while

Seeing it live twice is definitely just heightened my love for it. Yeah Thrice fans may not know how to clap, but they’re great at chanting lyrics. Firebreather on the farewell tour was sooooo good with the crowd doing oohhhhhhhhh oh ohhhh’s. The TLD with the crowd at the end is always amazing.

Blood On The Sand grew on me a ton. I liked it upon its release, but the lyrics get more meaning behind them day after day. It’s a powerful song

Would You Still Be In Love?

The Window was a song I always liked, but I loved a lot of other songs more. Now it's a top 3 song on the album for me

I hope we get more endings a la "The Window" and "The Long Defeat." Nobody ends songs better than Thrice, whether it's a rhythmic guitar jam, a complex lead part from Teppei and/or a vocal from Dustin that sends shivers down your spine.

and as someone as more and more mass shootings have happened in the last two years ive really understood the lyrics in a big, big way that i didnt until like the 3rd or 4th last shooting in such a short time frame last year

I feel like if the band were to write a modern day version of TAITA, songs like that would be the result and I am very okay with that.

but with even more poignant relevent social lyrics about one of the worstthings that has become normalized in out country TAITA had a lot of scathing critisms of capitalism but not so upfront because on dont tell and we wont ask, but i love how on TBEITB he was like fuck it this is whats up with society and it ended up being so much of how i feel about society. most ive connected to them lyrically since beggars came out and iw as like still struggling with my faith.

Blood on the Sand rules. Between that and Death from Above this is the most my anger with capitalism/nationalism has been reflected in their music.

"Blood on the Sand" is a decent tune. The problem was it was the first song people heard after a 3+ year hiatus. Expectations were just too great, and by Thrice standards, it's rather basic. Even DK acknowledged its simplicity as a reason for why he liked it.

I mean, hearing that song after a 3+ year hiatus got me really hyped for the new album, but to each their own I suppose.

My hype level was unaffected; it couldn't go any higher. They could've released an acoustic version of "Ultra Blue" and I still would've been jumping out of my chair.

In almost every interview, DK finds a way to condemn his own vocals pre-Alchemy. It was more indirect in the interview above, but when he says check out everything from the last 10 years, that's what he's referring to because he's brought it up so often. Once Teppei became their producer, he loosened up a bit (as compared to working with a legit producer who's striving for perfection).

Plus, the last decade is a better representation of their current sound. Since M/m, I do like that they're taking a more "human" approach to their recording process (versus replacing the live track with countless stacks of perfect yet sterile tracks).

The 'Silhouette' comments were interesting as well.

Sounded like Dustin said the new album would come out during their US tour. Thats late September at the earliest.

Yeah, I caught that potential slip-up, too. It just makes sense for September 21st to be the release date. That tour should've been our biggest clue all along. Of course, it's going to be the first rung on this album cycle.
