I get this, but for me it's the sudden explosion in the outro that makes the entire song so incredible. It's a huge moment that the whole song builds up to, and it perfectly goes along with the story it's telling. And while I agree the chorus and riff aren't the most memorable on the album, I don't think they have to be. It's telling a story that builds to a really gut-punching climax that's perfectly timed. The rest of the song builds the tension in a way that makes the payoff so much more powerful.

The intro to Wake Up makes me feel like I'm wandering through a desert wasteland or something.

Not a fan of the Creed sounding chorus but it's still fun IMO. I don't really skip any tracks except blood on the sand and black honey because I played the fuck out of them.

    It's my mum's dodge caravan

The riff in the chorus of Wake Up is baller

Also I still can't decide a best song on this, as with many Thrice albums there are too many really strong songs but no real standout

They confirmed that they did record a b-side for this. @Jason Tate get that Chorus Exclusive.

I'm only loving this album more and more with time. Hurricane still gives me chills and chokes me up occasionally. Wake Up is my least favorite, and even then I still really like it.

I really fucking love this band. I just listened to tbeitbn and fire back to back and I will say I feel like tbeitbn is the only record that truly calls back to that ep. I think it brings a lot of other sounds to the table as well, but I love the crashing cymbals mixed with the loud low baritone guitars that both of those records create beautifully. I really fucking love this band can't wait to see them on the 17th.

Uugghh the two baritone guitars on The Window. So good, Norma Jean loves doing that too.

    Fight the long defeat.

Would have loved to see Beggars represented a little more in their set, but with the rarities they chose to incorporate, I can't complain. Still a week out from Charlotte, but so ready to see them again.

Somewhat surprisingly given I wasn't really anticipating it at all, this is probably in my top two Thrice albums now (behind Vheissu, obviously). I really feel they nailed their ideal sound on this. Those soaring choruses...

I honestly think this is my favorite Thrice album and that's saying a lot obviously considering their past body of work. The album as a whole is just so strong and consistent. Love basically everything about it

Glad that I'm not the only one absolutely loving this thing.. It's strange bc there are certainly songs on here that if other bands wrote I wouldn't love but they pull it off so damn well

I get what you mean. These guys are just insanely good at their craft. I think this might be my favorite of theirs

    BOO

Drove to San Diego to see them last night. It was great. They sounded as good (maybe even better) as ever. Setlist was really good. The crowd could not keep time at all. I tried, but no one would follow my tempo (the correct tempo!) Saw two of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. Taller than me :( I love San Diego almost as much as Thrice.

"Wake Up" is a great song to blast while driving around with the windows down.

    hmmm

I still think Wake Up and Stay With Me really let this down. I'm not big on Salt and Shadow either, though I do still like it. The rest of it is good or (mostly) brilliant.

The transition from the end of The Long Defeat to Seneca to the start of Black Honey is awesome. That's how link tracks should work.

What are your issues with stay with me? It's hard to deny its an extremely well written pop song.

It just feels to me like I've heard that sort of thing so many times before. It might work if the chorus was stronger but I find it too bland.

When you've got a chorus as gorgeous as the one in Hurricane on the same record then Stay With Me just sticks out a bit.

Chorus is simple and repetitive for sure, but I think it makes the Pechorus/bridge at the end of the song super powerful. I absolutely love his voice on that bridge at the end of the song.

Also come on it's about a post apocalyptic romance, how cool is that?

    Haha!

I do like the bridge, I've got to admit. The rest of it just does absolutely nothing for me unfortunately.

The flow to this record is just incredible. I love listening to albums from start to finish and this one hit the spot in that department. It has definitely jumped into the vinyl worthy category. I need to add this one to my collection ASAP.

There are some vocals buried in that jam at the end of The Window I hadn't noticed until today. Cool.
