Hurricane, The Long Defeat, Stay With Me, and Salt & Shadow could all easily be on Air, if Air had been jut a smidge heavier. Like, Broken Lungs's "we want justice" part with baritone guitars, haha.

The only songs on here that make me think of Air are The Long Defeat, Seneca, Death From Above, and Salt And Shadow.

Definitely didn't think that at all. Next time I spin this I'll assess

I've had a different song from this stuck in my head every morning this (work) week. Started with Hurricane, then Whistleblower, then Stay With Me, and this morning it's The Window, which might be my favorite on here. I love the way the drums, guitar, and bass intertwine and groove and it reminds me of Vheissu filtered through Beggars.

This is up there with Beggars and The Alchemy Index: Fire, Water, and Air. I enjoy it as much as those release and definitely more than everything else they've done.

I think this is the most accurate comparison I've seen yet.

If Vagrant does it right, Stay With Me could be Hot 100 huge. The more I listen to it, the more I believe that.

I don't listen to rock radio, but I think Black Honey should be all over rock radio. Has it been issued to stations or Sirius/XM yet?

The Long Defeat into Seneca is so sick. I wish there was more to it before Black Honey.

I think Riley tweeted a photo of KROQ here in LA playing it

    I agree with that statement.

This record isn't on par with Beggars, not much else out there is, but it sits atop of Thrice's catalog with Vheissu. Besides Words In The Water, most of M/M is forgettable.

That said, I really do like this record. The production is outstanding, it's catchy, Dustin's voice is amazing on every song, and its geopolitical message really resonates with we.

I never really got into Beggars. There's a lot that I appreciate about it, and the last track is crushing, but aside from maybe Talking Through Glass and the ending of Circles, I just don't think it's that interesting.

Beggars and Water/Air are the only things I listen to by these guys bar this.

If I told you what I think of that album you'd probably not be my friend any more.

If you think I'm that shallow... I mean, I might be... but now I'm curious. And if you've revisited it recently.

I have struggled with ranking these albums for some time now. The only thing I know for sure is the Vheissu is my absolute favorite record of theirs, but I find enjoyment in every record. And as someone mentioned earlier, I also tend to listen based on a particular mood. So, instead of a numerical ranking, I kind of just lumped them into tiers, which roughly corresponds with how often I listen to each record. Within the tiers, I haven't ranked them. The funny thing is, I still listen to Identity Crisis a lot. Thrice really should get the large bulk of my 9.99 Spotify Premium monthly payment.

    Tier 1
    Vheissu & Beggars

    Tier 2
    IoS, TAIA, Alchemy 3&4

    Tier 3
    Alchemy 1&2, M/m

    Tier 4

It's cool to see the variance in how people appreciate Thrice's discog differently. I rarely frequent this site except when new Thrice is coming out and I am shocked to see how many people consider Beggars Thrices' best. It's cool, I wish I could understand it. Doublespeak, In exile and talking through glass are 3 of my most forgettable Thrice songs, not saying they're not good songs. Vheissu doesn't have a single track on it that is short of stellar. Also think it contains Dustin's best lyrics overall. Perhaps Image would be the exception to my stellar statement.

Stand and Feel your worth took me the longest to get into but now I am sure this is one of their finest achievements.

"Like Moths to Flame" is forgettable to me. How that made the cut over "Flags of Dawn" or "Weight of Glory" is beyond me.

I feel like Between The End and Where We Lie is the weakest on Vheissu and wish Flags of Dawn had replaced it or Weight of Glory

Damn. I am just learning that music is subjective haha. Didn't think there was anyway anyone could think of those tracks as weaker.

Moths to Flame having those haunting acoustic verses, jazzzzy interlude and one of the heaviest moments in their career with the outro. Forgettable? nahhhh

Between the End was the perffffect 2nd track. As someone who was heavily into thrice pre-vheissu, hearing rhodes keys and synth and not hearing guitars on the second track right away freaked me out! I am sure that was the intention of the track placement. This is where Vheissu really gets going and makes a statement about whats to come. Flags of Dawn or Weight of Glory would have been too easy and expected. That chorus is like the smoothest most subtle way of shifting from 4/4 to 7/8 and melody is catchy as hell!
