we're all a bunch of weirdos on a quest to belong Prestigious

People have been pulling this nonsense since Artist in The Ambulance, I don't think they'll ever stop expecting Thrice to sound the way they want Thrice to sound unfortunately.

Teppei said it best in one of the dvd's. He said he would get fans saying "Hey I really like Illusions of Safety, when will you make another like that" and yelled said "we already made Illusions of safety, why would we make it again. Just go listen to that one again". He said they change their sound just as much for the fans as they do themselves. And that has always stuck with me.
Exactly! Honestly I think those three are the best songs on the album, and the ones I always go back too if I'm in the M/m mood.

  2. I think your autocorrect turned Teppei into Yelled, haha

I love M/m as a whole but sometimes I listen to an abridged version that cuts out Yellow Belly, Call it in the Air, and Listen Through Me. Cuts things down to the songs I love the most, like your three, Blinded (which was my initial favorite), and the three song run of Treading-Blur-Words, which I think is the best run on any record. Especially how those songs build together and thematically tie into one another

My auto correct gets me worse on this site than anywhere else for some reason, I'll go retread comments I made that are completely incoherent haha I definitely meant Teppei.

And yeah that three song run is amazing. I now need to go listen to it right now

  5. Me too! I need something to hold me over anyways until Black Honey shows up online

  6. @fenway89 oh my gooossshhhh. That was a revelatory experience. I guess it's been a really long time since I've listened to those songs with good headphones? Either way, I was hearing sounds and noticing details that I've never caught before. Utterly brilliant. Nearly had me in tears by the end of "Words"

You weren't kidding! So excellent! M/m is still not my favorite, but this run is so dang good.

When the hell are we getting Black Honey? This is killing me!

  13. not big on this one, seems a little trite lyrically

I do like the production on these two songs and the direction Dustin's voice is taking, and still like the first one a lot.

Lyrics are whatever for me, but I love the song. Better then "Blood on the Sand" for me, can't fucking wait even more now.

Song is not bad. Lyrics aren't amazing, but I don't dislike them.

Clicking on that link doesn't give me a song to listen to on my laptop, but I can see it in the post on my phone. So strange.

I love the music of this song, and the lyrical cadence/vocals, but I'm not entirely sure what he's trying to say lyrically upon first listen. Need to read the lyrics.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

So much better than Blood On The Sand. Might not be as strong lyrically, but it sounds so much better sonically.

Not my favorite Thrice lyrics but I can't complain when Dustin sounds as good as he does here. Love that verse riff. May 27th can't come soon enough.

Here's what he says in the article, it's not much to go on though.

"Lyrically," he writes, "the song spawned from an image that popped into my head: someone continually swatting at a swarm of bees to get their honey, but somehow not understanding why they would sting back in return."

    instrumentally this is great

  24. Song is interesting. I think it's definitely going to be the "Call in it the Air" of this album: a song that's fun to jam to but that's annoyingly repetitive lyrically.

That first verse harmony IS honey, though.

Either way if this is Jason's least favorite on the album, then we're in good shape, can't wait anymore.
