I also think Stay With Me sounds like with some tweaking it would fit nicely on Carry the Fire

Salt and shadow is almost a bon iver song.
The tone of the guitars on this record is so good. The production is incredible.
Listened a couple of times and I'm enjoying it but I cant pick out 1 track that is really really stickong it to me. It's a very cohesive feeling album.

Yeah this is just superb. Just can't get enough of Thrice.

Read through the comments so far and nice to see that pretty much everyone seems to dig it on some level.

Not sure I understand what is exhaustive about the record. Or rushed. I thought the pacing felt really solid and one if it's strong points. Feel like it's one of their most cohesive records to date, if not the most. The joy of opinions :-)

Stay With Me is so stunning (might be my favourite). Hurricane is a monster. Whistleblower, Black Honey, The Window etc- not a single misstep for me.

Wake Up is the only one I'm not crazy about but I do still really like it. Seneca should have been longer but that's about it.

Production is top notch and shows you can make things sound enormous without turning it into candy. Love the guitar/bass tones on the album and Riley's drumming feels it's most controlled yet.

Yada yada - just a damn great hard rock album. It's been a long wait but it's been so worth it.

My favourite band delivers again.

I feel like the window is going to be the underrated gem of this record.

The Long Defeat may be my new favorite Thrice song - feels like the sequel/big brother/redux of Flags of Dawn.

The whole album is fantastic though. I'm already getting preemptive chills at the thought of them opening their comeback shows with Hurricane.

I'm loving The Long Defeat right, especially that riff in the intro and after the first chorus

"Salt and Shadow" is my favourite after one listen, this is a solid album all the way through though.

I just listened to a few songs and it all sounds pretty generic to me. I'll never get into this band.

How accurate are the lyrics up on Genius? They were pretty bad a couple days ago.

hurricane is great, this is all pretty great vocally, not sure i care about it musically though, but dustin's vocals at the very least on this fucking carry this to something a little more interesting than it should be based on everything else

Listening through the album now. So far, I fucking love Wake Up. Every song has been more enjoyable than expected so far. It's a wonderful feeling listening to new Thrice for the first time in years.

    Fight the long defeat.

I refuse to trust them at this point, especially when I'll have the print version this afternoon.

This was excellent. The opener, closer, The Long Defeat and Death From Above stood out to me as highlights on first listen. Dustin sounds goddamn unreal, I don't think I've ever enjoyed his voice this much.

Having listened to the record since Wednesday, I am now proclaiming "The Window" to be my favorite song. I wouldn't mind a full record of this sound (as well as more Seneca type sounds). Someone else said this but I think "The Window" is a sound that's fresh enough to dive deeper into. This is one of the few, perhaps only songs where Dustin and Teppei are BOTH playing baritone guitars. Unless there's another band that's written heavy Radiohead songs with a versatile voice like Dustin's, the band can evolve even further.

I strongly disagree with the notion that they've peaked musically as of Vheissu. I think this record had to be a callback to the majority of their catalog in the same way that "The Force Awakens" had to pull elements from Episode IV and V when relaunching the franchise to generations old and new. Now, Episode VIII can do its own "weird" thing as Larry Kasdan put it.

Similarly, the next Thrice record can now do whatever it wants and if they expand on the new sounds they've added to this record like The Window, Seneca and the Hammond organ bridge sound in Death from Above, their sound still has new territory it can cross.

I was able to give this a first listen with the fiancee last night. I can't even begin to describe how happy I was to be able to sit down with the lyrics and listen to a new Thrice record again.

I really enjoyed it on the first listen through. I think "Hurricane" is my favorite song, but the final stretch of the record is the strongest, IMO.

I can't wait to spend some more time with this.
