Dustin wrote about walking dead? I somehow doubt that

I think there are some lines on the album Carry The Fire that if your a fan of the show you could think he is referencing it. But I don't know if he actually is. I know he has a few references to The Road, such as the title Carry The Fire.

That song is straight up inspired by the road, though he does use the term 'walking dead' in the song.

I think I'm done with the studio updates, seems like they'll be putting one up every two weeks on Wednesday, I feel like I've heard too much already.....And what I've heard is super exciting!

I remember reading about how he loves The Walking Dead prior to the just prior to the release of All The World is Mad. Not sure if that meant the comic or the TV show. Years later direct reference Walking Dead is used in a line of the song Carry The Fire, although that song is not about the show or anything.

It's a popular show, he's in the age demographic to watch it and there's no reason that pop culture references make it into Dustin's writing. It's the same thing with No Country For Old Men. Dust used that that movie as influence/inspiration for Call It In The Air. He's subtle in his Thrice writing. Milly Michaelson is about a movie. And people seem surprised Blood and Sand has a political edge. Broken Lungs is a about the events in New York on September 11th and a belief of a conspiracy behind the events. Though a lot of his writing is heavily influenced by religion Dustin writes about a lot more.

The show wasn't out until 2010. Post writing of All the World is Mad.

The comic has been around since 2003. I did preface that in my reply that I wasn't sure if he was refereeing to the comic or show at the time since it was a while ago, so if you are trying to prove me wrong you need to prove that both the comic and show came out after the song.

Someone just ask him if he's a fan of Walkind Dead on Twitter. The song isn't about Frank Grimes. A post apocalyptic wolrd isn't typical thrice. Also, now that the show is really really famous, it's not "chance" that the term of the show pops up in Carry The Fire. Personally, I think it's pretty cool.

I wasn't trying to prove you wrong. I know the comic book has been around for much longer than the show. I was just pointing out that he couldn't have been referencing the show since it starting airing a year after the song came out.

I was just trying to help with the theory and clarify that if Dustin is referencing The Walking Dead, it was referencing it in its comic book form.

Yeah, I'm not trying to argue either. I honestly have no idea where I read that. I do remember thinking that it was kind of a funny contrast when the first two songs people were hearing from Beggars was about a post apocalyptic word and valuing marriage. I've been listening to Thrice since the Illusion of Saftey and I always find it interesting seeing where Dustin pulls from for influence. I think that's why I love his two points of view on Icarus story and using Greek Mythology as a source. Just so different and memorable. I am kind of expecting him to be even bolder in his lyrics theme choices for the new record because he has so many outlets at the moment. I've never had any issue with anything he's done before because he's still somewhat subtle in his Thrice and so stuff.

  14. Love the song in that studio update, the guitars are just crushing on that track. I wonder which song they'll release next.

Can't wait for this album. I really fell in love with this band when they released Beggars, that album is just fantastic in every sense of the word.

So, preparing for this release, I'm trying to find the most legitimate avenue to get a lossless version of the album with my preorder of the vinyl. I am assuming the download code will link to 320 kbps files, max. I'll probably spin it in the record player first, then digitally with my best headphones on, but I want all this to somehow happen on release day without having to fork over more money. I'm already giving them a lot of money this summer. Haha.
