Thrice - To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere (May 27, 2016) Album • Page 140

  1. @Mike J @Trotsky

This has been a frustrating conversation to read through because I get points on both sides.

I'd just like to point out, with no hopes of stirring either of you up, that our entire generation shares two major problems.

    1. We present our subjective opinions as if they're facts, i.e., "This album is bad."
    2. We discuss things we know as if they're feelings.

Almost all of us have this terrible habit of starting sentences with "I feel like..." instead of admitting when we know something or when we don't.

Well hello fellow wolves fan. I'm beyond excited for new music from them. I would agree they are very well versed and their song writing is incredible and creative. Of course I can't really related to any of it because I'm not educated in anything religious except the basics really. Not that it matters, I respect the hell out of everything the band does. I remember being really turned off by the crowd for being disrespectful while Steven was doing his preaching bit he does at every show. Even if I don't agree, the fact that he is so passionate about his beliefs are the reason he writes music and the reason for the band to exist in his eyes, so let him do what he needs.

  4. Oh yeah. Easily Dustin's most annoyingly repetitive lyrics ever. I forgot about that, haha. I still like the song a good deal, but sometimes I listen to an abridged version of M/m where I skip "Yellow Belly," "Call it in the Air" and "Listen through Me." A much softer, more concise listen

  5. Yeah, I love Steven. He's so kind, and it seems like he very carefully, prayerfully decides what to say at each show. I'm pretty sure it's never a prepared speech that he gives exactly, over and over again each night. I saw them for the third time two months ago and they played a brand new song (untitled but ironically it might be titled "Stay with Me") and it was their best song yet. I almost cried because the ending was so heavy and beautiful and jaw-dropping. I'm really hoping the recording captures the power of the live version.

  6. Also, I don't think I posted this link in this thread yet, but I wrote a review for TBEITBN yesterday that I'm really happy with. I take a personal, slightly philosophical take on the album, also discussing why I haven't tried to rank/compare it with older Thrice albums yet.

When @Trotsky can explain to me how they can qualify this music as "uninspired" I'll continue to fucking hate this thread as I have for seemingly weeks now, which is unfortunate because I really love this album and I love this band.

Honestly the only part of the album I'd say lacks inspiration is the chorus of Wake Up (the lyrics).

I dunno, I think you guys are being dramatic. I've had a lot of fun in here since I joined the thread. One of two posts don't discredit that.....esp when you can just ignore them.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

I was wondering today if we'll be lucky enough to get a 10-year anniversary tour from this album, out of a desire to hear the whole thing live. Crazy to think that far ahead, but Thrice has been so adamant about their staying power moving forward from the hiatus...so, then again, is it?

A ten year tour for Beggars would be incredible. That's the only album I can see them doing such a tour for at this point.

That's crazy to think that we're within a few years of a possible 10 year tour of that. :cringe::cringe::cringe::verysad:

The morning after our NJ date we walked into an IHOP at 7ish and there was a group wearing their Thrice merch from the previous night. They pointed at us and yelled really loudly "ayyyyyyyyy!" from across the restaurant. We replied in similar fashion and that was the extent of our interaction lol...older patrons were clearly uncomfortable.

They played almost every track from fire and water when I saw them. Plus a few from earth and air.

I can't believe Jason doesn't have TBEItBN in his top 10 albums so far. That's just... sigh.
