I just remembered when the biggest THRICE fan argued forever about whether the “t” in “to” was capitalized in TBEITBN.

Amazing. That person’s dedication to THRICE was truly unparalleled.

plenty of people in this thread didn't care for the song, yet you're the only one who people are taking issue with. hmmmm, wonder why.

  4. The issue I have is your critical "analysis" is fundamentally flawed. You start with the idea of what a Thrice song should be, should include, and needs to sound like, and pick apart something that doesn't fit a blueprint. A blueprint that is a figment of your imagination and completely constructed by you. Discussing what you don't like about a song is completely different than trying to make an argument that a song, by Thrice, is somehow not a Thrice song because of these entirely made up by you "rules." It's this distinction I take issue with.

ive never seen such a huge fan of a band so eager to pick apart every little thing they dont like about a song

  6. And the other thing is I know these things don't bother you that much. You can't claim a love for "First Impressions" or "Identity Crisis" and also care that much if a guitar sounds a little muddy. The difference between liking or appreciating a song isn't in the choice a band makes to muddy a guitar sound.

I never said this wasn't a Thrice song. It's totally a Thrice song. A synth and bass driven song is completely on brand, and it's something I've been anticipating since the early reviews. I also love "Carry the Fire." I merely tried to figure out what was missing in hopes of understanding why I'm not enamored.

mike j should be a consultant during the band's writing process.

If these got together and blew through Kazoos for a song... it would be a Thrice song

Choruses are great, especially the last one. While I don't care for the bridge vocal, the last 1/3 is spectacular.

Reminds me of Fire weirdly. From like 2:15 on. Crunchy baritone* stuff going on

Seriously. A few people gave well thought out responses to why they thought Mike’s arguments were bad, that’s really as far as it needs to go

That would be super dope. I assume either he'll play it on a keyboard or Dustin will on a synth board like they did for the Water stuff.
