Given that it’s a 9/11-trutherism anthem, a lot of people probably don’t like it.

Questionable lyrics aside though it's still a great song. *shrug*

9/11 trutherism is far beyond questionable.

Right. And I'm just saying I'm not gonna hold those lyrics against them since they are otherwise politically decent people.

Think I’m gonna drop Broken Lungs out of my honorable mentions now. I always warm up on drums to this song that I almost completely forgot about the lyrics

I always omit Whistle's ending when talking about great Thrice endings. I have to forever group it with Window and Defeat's endings. It deserves such treatment.

There are still a lot of 9/11 related questions no one will ever get answers to. Having questions about how a multi event planned terrorist attack happened on that scale and what information was mishandled or who else may have been involved are question worth asking.

I’ve never tried to over assume what Dustin is suggesting because that could lead you to the wrong conclusion.

Even with the lyrics, Broken Lungs has so many great things about it. The drums, the xylophone, the cool chill mood for the verses, and that awesome ending where it goes back and forth between the heavy and soft (Ed's bass part there is incredible).

To be honest I always interpreted the song as something more than just 9/11. I always felt it touched upon questioning those in power in general and not just blindly following along with what we are told, which frankly I think is a good message. If Trump can get into office and lie to the public so blatently, clearly the power structure is not infallible. Imo there is nothing wrong with questioning what we are told from a government and media that is not always completely honest with its people, such as the case these days. Just my thoughts.

The beauty of music is you don't have to interpret it as intended. So even if he did intend it as 100% conspiracy theory 9/11 trutherism, I choose to interpret it closer to what you two suggest.

Either way, the song musically is so good to me that I can look past the lyrics.

You’re right! I had a super drunk girl screaming about her dog in my ear.

I think I blocked it out because I didn’t get to actually enjoy that chunk of the show. Haha.

The xylophone interlude in Broken Lungs redeems the song for me. Not their best song, not their worst.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Thoughts and prayers. Haha

Honestly, even that 1 Beggars song feels like a crime.

I like Broken Lungs. It fits the concept of the Air EP, but its not beating A Song For Molly Michaelson or Daedalus for me, so it’s my 3rd or 4th favourite out of 6 with the Sky is Falling.

Also, just a note, but the Air EP has a lot of different specific points of views in its story telling.

I think the alchemy index has Dustin's most creative lyrics in their discography. Not to mention he had to write 22 original songs worth of lyrics so he did a great job capturing the elemental characteristics of the EPs very vividly. The closing tracks on each volume are among my favorite thrice songs from a lyrical perspective. To write a sonnet in the form of each subjects view point is incredible. "when kings upon the main have clung to pride and held themselves as masters of the sea I've held them down beneath the crushing tide til they have learned that no one masters me." Awesome.

The alchemy index is without a doubt some of Dustin's best lyrical work! Some real gems in there (such as each closing track)
