Horizons is hitting just right today. Good rainy day music.

 

So the songs they originally intended to put on Horizons/West are now getting released as singles instead. At least they're seeing the light of day.

Yeah, press info for the single doesn't seem to mention those are outtakes from "West" (nor "East" b-sides too though). Happy to get anything new from them!

 

I'll take a peak at the discord to see if the band actually said that.

West is not pushed to the side per se. The short version is that we originally thought we would role right into it, but the reality was that by the time we finished East, we needed to step back and reevalute what West was really going to be. Originally it was going to be all songs from the same writing session as East, but at this point it's going to evolve into it's on thing, using some ideas that we hadnt used yet, and definitely some new stuff. We were not in the headspace to do it right after we finished East but we are all looking forward to re-approaching it after having had some space. So, yes, it won't be out as soon as we thought. But it will be better."

 

A 3 month quote that changed what they initially said isn’t really a great source.

I think in this instance it works, it gives us an idea that West is probably at least another year out.

But that ignores the context of what people are wondering about.

the thought put forth is that they said on their discord that the album is going to be released as singles. Asking if this is the first song from that project. So an old quote that doesn’t address such a statement is pretty pointless as this points to things changing.

but we have since gotten clarity from Riley that this is not a part of West.
