This is a damn fine cup of coffee.

Man, I really can't un-hear "Carry the Fire" in "The Color of the Sky." But that's a good thing.

The Dreamer's verses are very Nada Surf, who DK loves.

Only song I wasnt into on first listen was The Dreamer. Mostly just the chorus.

Overall, this is probably their most interesting album since Vheissu. No idea how it stacks up in comparison to anything though. Part of me kind of wishes they had released East and West as a big double album.

yeah i mean i think most albums these days are entirely too long, mostly when it comes to rap and pop artists gaming streaming numbers, but this is tight and cohesive enough that another 9-10 songs just as tight and cohesive wouldn't have bothered me whatsoever.

I'm very glad they're releasing them one at a time, haha. This is the perfect length for me.

I'm stunned. To me, it's a classic Thrice chorus. I'll be very surprised if it doesn't become a fan favorite. It's far and away my favorite on here.

I think the chorus of that song hurt it for me as well after really liking the verses.

  9. Ricky's Law

This is a damn fine cup of coffee.

It's such an aggressive and unusual verse for them since he's talking/shouting more than singing, so transitioning into a smooth singalong-style chorus just makes sense to me. But these varied opinions on this song and the record are already interesting.

I like the idea just don't think the chorus itself is that good. Only had one listen though so I might change my mind once I've heard it a bit more.

I'll be honest, this isn't doing much for me. I liked Scavengers, Summer, Dandelion, and Unitive. Nothing stood out too much like an Everything Belongs or Hurricane off their more recent albums. Perhaps I'll need to spin it some more, but yeah.

I liked Palms more than this, but definitely going to give it a few more listens.

I think The Color of the Sky is my favorite :-)

Yeah, I know. That might be saying more about me than anything, but it's been harder to follow these guys stylistically after Vheissu. I wish I could enjoy a whole album from them again, that's all, and even with these handful of good songs on Horizons there's no all-timer song on here so far in my opinion.

In this storm / stumbling west is my favorite thing they’ve done since coming back

    Captures Dustin’s anger/empathy dichotomy perfectly

"The Dreamer" is a bit of a clunker, while "Northern Lights" and "Summer Set Fire to the Rain" are standouts to me after the first couple of listens.
