Looks like Fandango is doing the free poster for all the big movies now, including this one if you're interested. Can't wait to see this

There's some feelings that this could make more than Justice League in its first weekend. haha

I would enjoy that... but despite the DCEU being very garbage heavy so far, it still has Batman. And Wonder Woman is super popular, as she should be after the only great DCEU film.

As another critic said, I was hoping this would be more of a Taiki Waititi movie in the MCU, instead it’s an MCU movie with some of his humor in it. It’s very funny, has great performances, really let’s Goldblum get weird with it.

But it still has all the traditional MCU problems: Bad villain (despite Blanchett chewing scenery), no stakes, too long, big dumb final fight.

Marvel did good making this a comedy because the story is nothing new.

Hahaha omg I'm dying laughing. I really can't wait to see James Franco play this role. Everything I've read about it sounds great.

    I do not exist.

Just finished watching this. It was utterly, utterly brilliant. Didn’t expect to enjoy a superhero film quite like that. I’m genuinely surprised. Wow.

This was such a fun film. Definitely my favourite Marvel film of the year.

Since you're a fellow defender of the previous Thor films being fine, I'm not surprised that you loved a genuinely great one, lol. (Or at least I'm assuming it is, as I'm still 5 days away from seeing it.)

Now you can write your Further Reading blurb!

Yeah, I find it hard to hate those movies just because of how much I enjoy watching Thor but this was on a completely different level. Loved everything about it.

I'll try and get it done tonight.

It killed me to not watch it on release day but I had to wait for my SO to finish her overseas trip.

So worth the wait. Loved it a lot, and I love how they tied in ragnarok to the film. That was a pretty cool thing to do storywise.

For some reason the Taika line that stuck with me the most is the piss off ghost like from Korg. It’s so absurd and hilarious to me that in a cosmic world where literally holograms and other futuristic stuff exist the first thing that came to Korg’s head was that Loki is a ghost.

Excited to see this, but 0% of my enthusiasm comes from wanting to see Thor himself haha.

they literally lost Asgard. I’m wondering what you mean by this. I am genuinely curious. Not trying to be dismissive.

I’m sure others will feel different, but besides being Thor’s homeland, I don’t really feel any connection to Asgard. There’s no one on there besides Idris Elba’s character that’s been remotely fleshed out. I liked Karl Urban’s character because I like Karl Urban. And all of our heroes are basically immortal, so it turns into another big punch ‘Em up. I liked the movie because it had Waititi’s humor and a great cast, but its story fell off for me once the Revengers left for Asgard.

Taika is one of my favorite directors and I'm happy with what he did with it. To have a franchise I didn't care for before and then have their main superhero quickly become one of my favorite characters in MCU - that was such a great leap to me, that I think I'd consider this a success so any more they were able to do beyond that is a bonus. I totally get where you're coming from though, and I definitely agree with what you said about Asgard being not as relatable.

    Just a friendly reminder

Honestly, I'm not too worried about this being a rollicking good time that doesn't break any new ground. The past few months have been so hectic and difficult that a colourful space farce is just what the doctor ordered.
