It’s still a very poorly written statement that strongly implies something it clearly was not intended to. He needs to issue a correction or at least an update on the statement.

it wasn't really meant to be an official statement though, nothing has come from the official twiabp account or anything

as i said, this is a horrible communication issue on both sides it feels and it's uncomfortable to be seeing this playing out in public

    music and baseball.

The thing is, we will never truly know. Unless Dylan takes back what he says, its his word versus David (theirs). There's no way for us to truly know. My comment was that I hope what Dylan says isn't true. I am not taking a side on the matter, since I see no way to, and I hold no disdain for either party.

Tensions are high right now, and nothing good can come from that. A friend of mine that is in contact with the band and has toured with them has mixed feelings for the situation.

the only thing I will say that is as someone who has mental health issues similar to those of Dylan's, listen to what the person is telling you and not what you think they're trying to tell you/what you think is best for them. often we have a grasp of our situation they will never understand, and what you think is going to help may be more destructive in the end. isolation from friends can fuck with head and distort everything.

    Yup yup yup.

I’m sure there’s a lot we don’t know which is why the band made this decision in the first place but even if there is a serious reason for this that just gives even more reason for that

Honestly, The Future is one of my favorite tracks. It's the most straight forward but it's really catchy and I like the kinda uplifting aura of it.

This band is weird for me in that the last two records have, outside of like a song each (January & faker), totally fallen off for me even tho I liked them both a lot when they came out. WIE took much longer to grow on me but I return to it more. I still think the early EPs are their best overall, with their half of AHTHY being one of the defining works of the ~emo revival~

I feel the same way about their first two. Not sure how I feel about WIE at this point because I haven't listened to it in years. I listened to Harmlessness earlier this year for the first time since 2015 and still love it, but I rarely listen to it. Always Foreign, though, I'm loving this a ton and it's already had more staying power for me than the other ones.

Weird, Harmlessness is pretty easily a top 20 all time for me. Other two full lengths are excellent but that one is leaps and bounds above the rest

I still have trouble fully getting into WIE. The vocals almost ruin it for me.

They took a long long time to get past for me but imo he was the bands best lyricist

It's only that album. I don't find them that irritating on any of their earlier ep's but for some reason they dipped their lowest in vocal performance on the album.

I think it’s just as not great on the eps as on the album, it just stopped bothering me after a while

Ah I didn’t realize. Anyway, I still think their lyrics were best on the first few releases

I think there's an earnestness on the earlier stuff, lyrically, that I really connected with. This and Harmlessness are darker, more cynical.

  22. I think Harmlessness has the best music, lyrics, and vocals by a huge margin

The increase in cynicism between harmlessness and this is huge but I don't think the gap in cynicism between wie and harmlessness is as big at all. Harmlessness can get dark but ultimately it's so hopeful and positive and I think that balance is what makes me connect with it most

I include Harm in that only bc its first song repudiates the optimism of the last song on WIE, not just by its title but the line "we think the world's all right but that's a lie." I def agree the gap between Harm & AF is much greater in that respect though.

You're right, I'd forgotten that and that does set the tone for the whole album, so yeah. Fair
