That reflects my thoughts as well! I do love You In January, though. I will be looking forward to hearing what your thoughts are in the future!

Just put on Sister Cities for the first time in awhile. It’s a hard listen, because it puts me right back when my mom passed away and I was living far away going to college. But goddamn, what an album. When the Blue Finally Came is such an amazing interlude.

It’s the kind of album that makes all their other stuff feel irrelevant. I hope they continue tor realize that they can take big chances like this when the sessions for LP6 start. Cause the payoff is incredible.

I just wish the production of Sister Cities was better otherwise i'd enjoy it far more. Soupy's vocal delivery on the album was a bit much for me at times aswell

I love Sister Cities. I'm sad that tonight's live stream is postponed but 100% behind the reason why it was. We live in some fucked up times and I hope we all realise that love and compassion for everyone and solidarity mean more than anything else. Haha, end of speech.

Talk to me about Sister Cities?

I've been given some extra curricular listening that includes Aaron West and Burst & Decay so no spoilers for that please, I will come back for discussion in that if you want :P

Awesome! Their best album, for me. Favorite moments? Favorite songs? Flowers didn't click with me for a bit, until the second verse really did.

There's a man with his head in his hands on the sidewalk
His wife's there behind him just off of the street
She scratches his back as he sobs on the asphalt
And what strikes me most is the symmetry
How they're framed just like you and me
When the light from the hospital's eastern wing
Tangles up in your hair and the sadness that pooled in my heart
    Starts emptying slowly

I'm really sorry that it takes you back there and that you've gone through that. When the Blue Finally Came is absolutely beautiful, I love it so much

Thank you so much. So many amazing stanzas on the record. the last minute of Sad and Sober is amazing, as well.

I could copy and paste my notes that I sent to me friend, but it feels like too much of a "me and him" thing to do that :P

So it's hard to pick bits out of those notes.

Also I don't wanna just copy and paste because me and my friend's TWY project is super special to me :P

But I can share my highlights.

Dirty guitar sound on Raining in Kyoto sets the tone for a more musically experimental TWY album.

An absolutely huge vocal range from Soupy that I love. I love love love his angry harsh vocals but also his soft vulnerable vocals and I think we get a really good balance in this album.

More cohesive album than NCTH. More balanced and structured? There are so many parts of NCTH that I love entirely but I think this album is better balanced.

Love the musically instrumentally experimental side of TWY on this album.

Also, I'm an artist so I love the visuality of the lyrics. Especially the use of colours (blue, grey, orange)

One of my other comments was that I feel like this album gets to places that I wish NCTH had got to in terms of musical depth. Or just places that I felt like we're so close but just out of reach in NCTH.

    That will do for now...

I definitely understand the "visual" aspect of the lyrics. At first, his vocals on this one took some getting used to. He "squeaks" a lot, but honestly I don't even hear it any more, its all just superb. Definitely also agree with the balanced comment. Its 44 minutes long, but it feels like it FLIES. NCTH drags for me in parts.

"Its 44 minutes long, but it feels like it FLIES. NCTH drags for me in parts."

Definitely! This was a huge part of me and my friend's discussion. I got burn out listening to NCTH and I didn't on Sister Cities.

I LOVE how Soupy displays his vocal range on this album. As I've said before, I've literally only started listening to TWY in the last three months or so and I've fallen hard and fast in love with them in that time. But one of the main things I've noticed is how Soupy seems to have learnt how to utilise his voice really well at certain points. At certain points in songs. At cwrtypoints in albums. I have fallen hard in love with his shouty harsh angry vocals but also have fallen in love with the vulnerable side of his vocals on albums. But maybe this I felt like on this album more than others his vocal range got given the space it deserves?

I want to see them live so much.

It's so shit that I've got into them right now when I have no idea when I might be able to see them live!

If you've seen them live before please tell me about it... It will sooth my mind :)

I’ve seen them...I think 5 times? First time was opening for Streetlight Manifesto and I had no idea who they were and I remember being really annoyed that the crowd was so into them lol. They started the set with Salinger and the crowd immediately went nuts. Looking back, I’m sure I would have loved that show now, but at the time I was not happy which is really funny to think about.

Most recent time seeing them was my favorite, it was one of their Halloween shows this past year and every band played a cover set in addition to a set of their own material. TWY played a set of limp bizkit songs and it was a blast, they were all in costume and soupy was so into it. It’s also cool seeing them now play essentially a “greatest hits” set, they tend to play a good selection from every album and I’m always happy with it.

This is awesome. I would love to see them having some fun and play around a bit live. I get the feeling they are a band who can have some real fun and not take themselves super seriously when they want to.

I have seen them 3 times. 1st was at Warped during TGG, then with MCS, and on the last Sister Cities tour. The last show was by far their best, even though people weren't super into the new songs at that point.

I would love to see them any time to be honest.

The TGG show was wild. It was Warped Tour, so it was wild in general, but I got a lot of hugs and emotional cries from other people on my shoulder during Washington Square Park while we were all mashing. It was odd, but really fun!
