Wow, that Chile thing is amazing for me. When I heard the line about the station it instantly took me back to 2015, when I spent a month there for the Copa America - based in Santiago but traveling to various other cities for games, from that very bus station.

And of course, what are the streets of Chile filled with? Stray dogs. Less so in Santiago than other places there, but still. In La Serena they chased after our taxi trying to bite it.

guitar riff is much meatier and mean than what youd find in pop punk. they're moving toward a dark alt sound? soaring rock in the chorus. foo fighters a bit? some AFI?

 

ive been waiting for this band to drastically pivot styles since 2013 man. feels good that its finally happening. fuck the incrementalism theyve been doing. if youre gonna switch it up, switch it all the way up. NCTH was too awkward stuck between where theyd been and where they wanted to go. this is completely unconcerned with their past. fuck yeah.

This is nearly exactly what I think, but I still don’t really like this song. I'm glad they are at least mixing things up, but I'm not taken by it.

 

It's no surprise I like this song... like I like everything else from this band (even get stoked on it!)

But yeah it seems like they may be finally committing to the pivot they've hinted at with a handful of songs between TGG/NCTH

Anyone know enough about AW to know where to start? Never heard of them before.

Also, that chorus on Sister Cities is a goddamn earworm and a half. I shouldn't be surprised but it's already stuck in there after maybe 5 listens.
