  3. Awkward because Summers in PA got me into TWY beyond the singles. I was a super hyped off the last FYS record dropping at the same time I discovered TWY (2015) and Dan and Alan sing on the bridge. Not my favorite anymore (probably Pigeon or Coffee Eyes, tbh).

0 problems with Pigeons, Summers, or Lords Prayer. Lords Prayer is a favorite of mine tbh

Summers is one of their weaker songs, in my opinion (still catchy though), but I'm not sure what's up with the Pigeons or Lord's Prayer hate. Still love both songs, especially Lord's Prayer

Pigeon is a really good song. the bridge is great. "I won't let this world wipe me out".

Did someone literally just say Hoodie Weather is not the best song on Suburbia? Shame.

Rob Gordon might be my favorite TWY song. Me vs the Highway is also probably top 5.

    Pigeons is boring/empty, Lord’s Prayer is weird/condescending

    Best track on Suburbia 1000%

DLMCI was the first song by this band I ever heard so that’s probably my #1

Hoodie Weather is one of my favourite songs off there purely because of how well it captures this specific mood/atmosphere of early winter. And holy shit the coda/outro. It's a song that means so much to me.

And Now I'm Nothing is the real star though. "I won't end up underneath the snow" is a chill factory. Suburbia is such a great record because of how well it snapshots a particular moment in recovery and I love how it does it. It really captures that mildness.

Lord's Prayer is a banger, I know Americans get very upset when you complain about organised religion but come on. It's a banger. Especially since when you read his reasoning behind it the decision to put it on the record and write it the way he did makes sense. I have no problems with it. Love the intro too

Tbh I don’t care if he complains about organized religion. I hate organized religion. Like, I’m not even Christian, I’m agnostic/Jewish. I just think that the song just comes off like it’s written by someone on r/atheism

For me I think it’s written just fine and comes across no differently than most songs that criticize religion in some form or another. Maybe it’s just from seeing small town southern baptists all my life but if any crowd deserves a condescending song it’s them.

DLMCI might be my favorite TWY song idk

I just want to reiterate a thought already posted: Suburbia NAILS that miserable winter feeling. I love when Summers in PA comes on middle of the album and gives you that glimpse into summer/spring and that feeling of oozing for warm weather while you're stuck in the dead middle of winter.

Haven't visited that album in years but it certainly was the album my high school/early college self needed.

this chat is just further convincing me suburbia is their best album - or at the very least my favourite. all those songs are great.

Summers in PA has some great lines in it (Everybody's finally home/For the first time this year, I feel whole) and is the last time they sound happy on record :crylaugh:
