yeah, the last three songs on the album definitely haven't won me over yet

No I get it. weirdly I really love those three in particular. I'd love them to do more stuff like When The Blue..., I like the kind of surreal feel it has. I guess the charm of Orange Grove is mostly in that awesome opening line.

it's weird. i know people think TGG falls off in the second half and it's definitely the weaker half but i still really like it. this album i feel the drop off is even more noticeable, i think heaven's gate is straight bad, and i don't like orange grove very much at all. when the blue finally came is an alright song but i don't love it or anything. only two songs i really like on the second half are lightning and the ghosts of right now

    Let it run Supporter

I just kinda zone out after Flowers. I'm also not in love with Kyoto as everyone else.

Basically I just like Sister Cities and Flowers

The only one I'm not too much about is Ghosts Of Right Now. I always have one song I don't care much for in TWY albums though, so I guess it's in fashion (well, I used to have one in TGG and then it grew on me.)

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

The closer is a bit underwhelming to me also. I keep expecting it to go somewhere, but it never does.

Ghosts of Right Now, Lightning, and Ocean are dope as hell. Honestly though, I'd have to look up the names of the other songs on the second half of the record.

I don’t like Pyramids or Ghosts, but everything else ranges from fine to good

And yeah, Ocean is decent, but I feel it’s being pretty overrated

  9. Ocean is still giving me chills in the last verse and when the coda kicks in, so I'm still about it. Not a single song here I don't at-least really like; least favourite is Heaven's Gate, second least is Pyramids of Salt (which I really like, just the lyrics bum me out way too much, still)

I like this record, but it hasn't clicked with me yet like all of the other TWY records have in the past. Most of my favorite records didn't click with me right away, so anything could happen.

  11. Most favourite to least favourite:

    The Orange Grove
The Ocean Grew Hands to Hold Me
Flowers Where Yr Face Should Be

    The Ghosts of Right Now
    It Must Get Lonely
    Raining in Kyoto
    We Look Like Lightning

    Sister Cities
    Pyramids of Salt
    When the Blue Finally Came
    Heaven's Gate (Sad & Sober)

    Pretty comfortable with this rn

At first listen I was in awe with the “but most of all I miss the ocean” into that ending explosion. I think that’s a fantastic conclusion.

But now, I’m not dying to return to that track. When it’s on it’s on, but I won’t choose it first to play or anything.

Agreed. I mean, I really like it...but I love anything this band does. I think And Now I'm Nothing and Funeral are both better closers than this. It's still a good song, but I guess I just wanted it to be a bit more...explosive? Not sure what it is that I can't put my finger on, but I feel like it could've been a true classic and falls a bit short.

    @vitopagano It Must Get Lonely

Pyramids wasn't high on my list until I heard it live. That will be the moment people take away from the show LIVE.
A top 3 moment for me since 2010. It was that good at the pop up shop. IMO. #killedit

weird so i guess you don't like the heavy songs on this

i think the heavy songs are pretty easily some of the best on here

Anyone who isn't feeling The Ghosts of Right Now, check out the Burst & Decay version and then go back to the original and see if it's clicked.

It's a Target-exclusive bonus track if you're in the US, and (I think) HMV for folks in the UK. The Target-exclusive tracks for NCTH were eventually posted on bandcamp but it probably won't get an official digital release for some time.

First I've heard of an acoustic It Must Get Lonely - please share if you find any more info!

And what a way you won me over

The drums in the chorus of this version are sooo cool - a nice contrast to the original version.

That’s also one of the reasons Coffee Eyes is one of my favourites on Burst & Decay, I like the way they changed up the drums there as well. Changes the whole feel of the song
