Also amazing review @Drew Beringer . Really captured the passion that went into the album.

Had this on at work and a server started dancing to those high hats after the first verse in Sister Cities so naturally we had a dance party. Hopefully I converted somebody

Really wishing my book was with me, but it doesn't look like it'll be here for days or weeks. Really frustrating. I was so excited about it.

  5. Copped the CD for target to hear the bonus track and contribute to week 1 sales, and I really recommend picking it up. It’s like 9 bucks and the lyric book is really well done (aside from the lyrics to We Look Like Lightning being here more than once in what I can only assume is a misprint)

The poem on the jacket is also really great

  6. Hanif Abdurraqib also edited lyrics and poems for the record per the album credits.

I've been hearing "What song do you want to die to?" as "A song to you, what did I do?" for a full week now and I'm kinda worried that I'll never hear it the right way at this point

First 3-4 songs don't move the needle much for me, but everything from Flowers on is solid.

Upon first listen...man I'm sold. This is gold. Put these M-F'ers on Coachella next week as far as I'm concerned.

Was cooking the whole time this was going so I'm excited to get a really good drive with this thing blaring.

This album is mighty fine. Not sure yet whether I love it as much TGG. Pyramids of Salt & TOGHTHM are aces. Really digging Kyoto, Flowers, It Must Get Lonely and We Look Like Lightning.

Agree with what a couple of people have said about the volume of the spotify/mp3 download. It's definitely a lot harder to make out the lyrics on Orange Grove and The Ghosts of Right Now. Pretty keen to give it a spin on my turntable when my order gets here.

Finally gave it a first listen. Songs are awesome and a definite growth for the band. I know it’s been mentioned a ton already, but the production takes me out of some of it. Raining in Kyoto is great, but during the louder parts, the treble is up so much that all I hear are cymbals, soupy and a white noise of guitar. Don’t get me wrong I love noisey stuff, but I wish I could hear the individual guitars more in those parts because they are doing cool stuff.

    Cursed by my ancestry

I showed the lyrics to my girlfriend, Becuase I knew we could both relate to it, and she started crying and said, "Why the fuck would you show me that?!"

She had the same reaction to Stage Four.

Revisited this on my flight just now, same thoughts as before. It is an okay album, for me, that I will return to periodically, but is mostly forgettable save for the two or three songs I really liked. I’m sure their next one will pull me back in. I didn’t listen to NCTH until like a year after it came out, so maybe in a year this will click with me!

    @vitopagano It Must Get Lonely

The "stripped down" version of Pyramids of Salt performed last night was so powerful. That song in a large stage setting will simply be EPIC. The best thing about TWY has always been their ability to sound exactly like the record live. IMO

Its a great song but was down on my list of favs UNITL last night.

the alternate version of ghosts of right now points to a whole other direction this band could go sonically

the alternate take on ghosts of right now and pretty much this entire album completely kills my complaint that this band doesnt have enough range

  23. It's not treble, it's mids. Trying subtracting a lot of them out with EQ. Also, don't boost bass or treble all that much.
