First time I ever met Soupy was Warped '15 and my dumb ass didn't hear the security guy say he wasn't signing TWY stuff but there I was looking like a damn fool holding my TGG CD. He still signed it. What a guy.

 

Also this is a dumb complaint but I wish Heaven's Gate was on the A side of the LP because something about dropping the needle and that bass coming in would have been really cool

 

The lyrics on Raining in Kyoto are so beautiful and brutal. I was young when my Grandpa passed but this song got me thinking about how my Dad must've felt during his final days and being so far away/in another country.

 

I can’t even comprehend how good Kyoto is. Like a band has no right making a song that good.

They really outdid themselves with this one.

There's a few lyrics on Genius which are wrong. Nothing major, but a couple that threw me off for a while - eg. the 'just a block off the sea, you're a row home' line in Lonely is down as 'just a block off to see your row home', which I couldn't make any sense of and made me dislike the song until I worked it out.

Also realised that song is probably about their late friend - the cigarettes on the headstones.

 

Raining in Kyoto is a goddamn slapper. Those riffs are heavy.

One more very minor one I can remember, in When the Blue Finally Came - 'in the ocean' rather than 'and the ocean' at the start, which then links it to the first line

 

I went very cliche "I've been to all your shows" when I met Soupy for the first time.

 

This is their best record hands down, though The Greatest Generation still might be my favorite (it was the first TWY record that really got me into them).

 

This is exactly how I feel. That record brought me out to my first Warped Tour and opened up a gateway to the whole alternative scene that I was previously oblivious to.

finally got around to playing this, "Heaven's Gate" is such an amazing song. I think this is the first Wonder Years record I like.

 

No shipping confirmation as yet from my pre-order. Makes me real glad I dropped over £30 on it to get it the day of release..

 

Really wish I liked this one more. Right now it's sitting as their worst since The Upsides for me.

 

Album of the year for me. TGG May be my favorite of all time but this album is just a fucking masterpiece.

Hemingway and cardinals

Cardinals is a fine song but the call and response at the end is even cheesier when the whole crowd is involved haha

 

Hemingway is a sick song though. "The sky goes from concrete to charcoal" is such a cool line.
