The sequencing of When The Blue Finally Came -> The Orange Grove -> The Ocean Grew Hands To Hold Me reminds me a lot of Madelyn -> Cul-de-Sac -> I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral

 

but good

 

Flowers has cemented itself as my favorite. It's so so great

 

I have a lot of feelings about this record

 

Love the drums on Heaven's Gate

 

Still haven't heard anything from this album and I can't wait to blow my load all over the place on Friday.

 

It Must Get Lonely reminds me of Counting Crows in an absolutely wonderful way.

 

It Must Get Lonely is one of my favorites right now. I get a Jimmy Eat World vibe from it.

 

I got JEW vibes from pyramids of salt so I'm glad there's more of that

 

Should be having my first listen rather soon

Can't wait to listen to this Friday. NCTH is so bad that I feel like this has to be better but these reactions are getting me hype. Hopefully this album doesn't sound like I'm listening to it through a gutter

This is way better than NCTH

 

If you thought "NCTH is so bad" I don't think you'll love this. The records aren't that far off from each other... Maybe if you thought it was just okay you could really enjoy this one. It refines a lot of what they were trying for on that album.

 

Hmm. Maybe so bad is a stretch. But I think there's only 4 ish good songs on there? And I was a huge fan of all the previous work. But I've loved both (released) songs from this album so far.

 

I thought NCTH was awful and I really like this so...

 

I'd say give NCTH a second shot then. Songs like Cigarettes & Saints, You In January, Palm Reader, and A Song For Patsy Cline are pretty close to these.
