The Irish Sea reference is really odd

 

Dan's falsetto makes a surprise return in Flowers. Reminds me of hearing that one falsetto chorus in Teenage Parents for the first time

 

I was just listening to it and thinking exactly that lol. really effective feel.

 

Flowers is definitely one of my favorites here.

 

My favorite comments are the ones about production sound based off a leaked low-quality rip keep ‘em coming y’all

 

Rip quality is fine tho.

I have some issues with the production but it’s so much better than the last album. Not sure I ever made it all the way through that one in one listen. The production just kills it for me. I think the new album is much better.

I need to spend more time with the album but It Must Get Lonely is easily one of their best songs.

The lead melody in The Ocean Grew Hands To Hold Me makes the whole album for me. It’s such a sweeping and satisfying closer.

I think NCTH is a good album, but this one really feels like the band that wrote The Greatest Generation grew up. Really positive on this record after day 1.

 

It’s been stuck in my head all day.

 

Listened once so far on headphones that I think may be broken so I didn't really get a great feel for it. I think I'll like it eventually though.

Really weird to me that they used the actual end of the album in the teaser, though

 

I will 100% eat my words if the official album sounds better than a variable bit rate leak, but I hear almost no difference between listening to "Sister Cities" on Spotify and from the leak.

 

There’s nothing wrong with the production

 

Not as in love with this as I wanted to be. Couple tracks don’t do anything for me (Kyoto and orange grove). Hoping it will grow on me.

 

A v0 CD rip is not a low quality leak but okay

That said the production on this is very good

It's killing me the only way I can hear this until at least next week is through my shitty phone speakers

 

I thought the same after my initial listen too -- but then I thought of how planting a seed to make music feel familiar can draw out even more emotion. I'm looking at you Mia and Sebastian's theme from La La Land.

Got my first listen in, definitely a good record

Some songs I thought were just ok but I’m sure that will change when I read along with the lyrics. Also I’m excited to correlate things with the book

It Must Get Lonely was definitely the standout to me

Also can’t believe people think this is their best opener and closer. Wasn’t really a fan of the closer but I’m sure that’ll change
