At least WoT doesn't have a needlessly convoluted time structure going on, haha. That turned off a lot of people from The Witcher (but if they're smart, they hard corrected that).

Yea, it made it difficult for me to follow the first season for sure but not enough that I won't need a rewatch for season 2.

I don't think Stradowski (or any of the cast) is bad. I just think Rand is kind of the neutral character at this point. All he has to do is reacting to other characters

My girlfriend is still into watching this with me
and seems to be enjoying it. Every time someone does something she's like oh s/he's the Dragon lol. On this last episode her theory is there are multiple Dragons

yeah my brother told me this same thing, that his theory is that the dragon's powers is in all 5 of them.

I found a timeline that then explained the plot of the show in sequential order and it completely changed my opinion of the show from "well, this is amusing trash" to "this could be pretty promising." I'm getting my Covid booster on Friday, so maybe I'll re-watch the first season on Saturday when I'm stranded on the couch.

I'd love to see it re-cut to something that makes sense like they did that AD season, now that I think about it.

The fact that Rand is currently the lamest of all the options should be the hint that he's the Dragon to all our non-book reader friends, haha. Perrin? Calls wolves. Mat? Going mad. Egwene? Channels fire. Nynaeve? Heals literally everyone. Rand? Broke down a door. It's kinda amusing that none of them have landed on it yet.

I'd like that but I have to assume Rand is "THE" dragon

Also the guy I thought was Jaichim Carridin turns out to be Eamon Valda, who I haven't met in the books yet

He's very good in the show though

I think they’re blending those two characters to introduce Valda faster.

I absolutely f---ing HATED the way they handled the timelines in the first season of The Witcher. Hated it. Ruined the show for me. After it was all done and I had the timelines straightened out in my head I was actually looking forward to watching Season 2 though.

Enjoying this series a lot so far, I think it has a lot of potential. It's a shame it's on Amazon as I don't think that it has as far reach as Netflix or HBO would give it.

I don't like that it's on Prime but that's more because it's Amazon

    Found my post-lunch listen.

In case people here just from the show don’t know, Brandon finished the series once Robert Jordan passed away using his extensive notes as Robert’s wife/editor Harriet.

My opinion of the show did not improve after watching episode 2. However, episode 3 was a definite improvement and really the first time the show made me feel, even marginally, like I did when reading the books. So...progress!

Siuan Sanche cold open is *perfect*. Second favorite character across the whole series, so I hope she gets her chance to shine.

Loved this episode. This adaptation reminds me of The Magicians. Yeah, it’s the same story, but it’s being told as something uniquely it’s own. As Brandon’s been saying, the books will always be there (and will remain my favorite of the two undoubtedly), but viewing this as a turning of the Wheel in the future has made it very fun for me.

Moiraine does have a history of knowing forgotten/banned weaves, so that reveal-while shocking to me-does make some sense.

Loved, loved, loved the Nynaeve-Siuan interaction.

The oath rod oath itself was very clever… but don’t love it being used outside of the three oaths. But it also is somewhat interesting they didn’t use it for such instances as this in the books now that I’ve been presented with it.

Regarding the ending: this is the episode they were filming when Barney quit.

It's funny, because I laughed at Mat's line "Is it too late to change my mind...?" thinking it was another one of his well-timed quips. I was very surprised when the gate started to shut and he wasn't with the rest of the group.

I was a tiny bit annoyed when the episode ended because it felt like one of those manufactured moments of tension - like when they have Aragon randomly fall off a cliff in The Two Towers - but if the actor abruptly quit the show in the middle of filming, it was probably a smart and creative way to axe him from the story for a little bit while you find a replacement actor.

Part of me thinks we may get new Mat hanging out with Thom in Cairhien in season two.
