I loved Steven Yuen in the part, but honestly it felt like his character had kind of stagnated after the Governor was taken care of. Didn't really seem to me like he really grew or went through any actual character development after that time period. So it doesn't feel like a huge loss to me. But ya know, IMO.

I agree and feel the same about Daryl. I would have rather it been them two who bit it. I really think Abraham was developing nicely and thought he had a ton of room to grow while Glenn and Daryl haven't really done lately.

I felt like Glenn had awesome character development. I wish he had more, but I loved that he still had humanity and wanted to help others keep theirs. He wasn't a total tyrese like he still fought and did what he needed to survive, but he was still so human and never lost that part of himself that so many other characters do. Idk he was a nice balance and I'll miss that.

I'll agree that over the whole series so far, Glenn grew a ton and was probably one of the last voice of reason characters left, but I don't think he did anything but get lost the last 2 seasons. I still can't shake that Abraham was becoming opening up more and I would have loved to see if him and Sasha got together .

I don't even really like this show, but the constant hot-takes and handwringing over it from the internet media drive me crazy.

    Play the Yakuza series

In my opinion, I think it went a bit too far in terms of the violence. Normally, I don't mind it when it comes to this show, but this was just violent for the sake of being violent. It felt like they were trying to make us want to fear Negan, but I think it would've been more effective to not have shown us what happened to us and let the facial reactions do the showing for us.
Also wish they would have not had the montage at the end of all of it (even though it felt like it was needed) and had the scene of the aftermath in silence or just with no music.

Before the episode people were hoping that the show wouldn't shy away from the violence and gore, now apparently they've gone too far.

Nothing wrong with having it, but it's the fact that it's not really used very effectively in my opinion. Sure. a lot of people were shocked and maybe that's the tactic they were going for. It's a shame that it's just a really cheap tactic though and adds nothing to it when you think about it.

I think it definitely helps in terms of creating animosity towards Negan. If it didn't show Negan kill Abe and Glenn, I do not think they would have been successful in allowing the audience to loathe Negan and view him as a true villain. Only because his character is so outgoing. Hell, it seems like a good percentage of the audience even still likes Negan as a character. They want us to root for Rick and co. But having Negan kill Glenn they way he did, really makes you uncomfortable. I don't know. I guess what I'm saying is, I felt the gore was justified to a point.

i didn't mind the gore at all but i feel like i have a pretty high tolerance for it.

crazy that there are only 3 ogs left. i'm guessing it's pretty safe to assume they are all pretty untouchable for the rest of the series.

I wonder how Shane would have reacted if he was in Rick's spot during that episode.

always possible the people who wanted them to embrace it arent the same people who think it was deployed excessively or improperly.

Eh, I think that it would have been so much more effective that for every time that Negan swung his bat, they showed us the face of one of the group.

Was that really any worse than a typical episode of Hannibal? I'm guessing people are just overreacting because they're connected to the characters. Or I have a higher tolerance for gore.

Edit: There's definitely a difference between the way we see how Hannibal displays his victims after the fact and we see Negan's brutality as it's happening. I still find Beverly's death (RIP another Asian character) more disturbing despite there not being any blood.

It's probably because Glenn has been a major character since Season 1. Some of the audience were probably more shocked that he didn't go out being a hero like most characters who have been in a show for 6 years would go out. Instead he was beaten to death at random and it made the viewers feel powerless. Also the fact he was going to be a father.
