I don't see the Negan storyline extending pass this season. I do wonder if with this change from one death to two (do not hover if you don't want to know about the comics) that they'll actually kill Negan, instead of taking him prisoner. Not doing that and following the comics is the only way I see him in season 8.

It would be so idiotic to only have Negan for one season considering how huge he is in the comics, but I have such faith in them fucking up the show that it wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah no way Negan is around just for this season

Yeah I wouldn't think they'd kill him off. Especially since, if we're following both the comic and what we saw in the show last season, Morgan has built the prison cell in the basement. There's a reason it's there and was such a strong focus.

Is anyone else a little put off when shows are like this and have no actual end in sight or do you just enjoy that there is always more content for entertainment?

Knowing that this show has enough material for another 4 or 5 seasons already and still isn't to the "end" (if they even have one in mind) makes me sort of lose interest. There doesn't feel like there's a "point" to it, I guess. I don't know.

I see it now! Though it does kind of look like he's holding it hah.

Have no clue who or what these whisperers are, but it sounds really interesting. Also, that promo poster with the head on the spike is cool. Isn't that like what Negan has on the fence surrounding his base? And other zombies?

Yeah it could also be in reference to that, which is what I'm hoping. I think it's more the language of "You've been warned" that set people off in the Whisperers direction because, well, it's quickly become another iconic moment in the comic series.

    Forgot about that. Makes sense.

I just think that if they do stick to the comics, Negan being a prisoner will free up JDM from needing to be a center focus after this season, and the storyline will progress onto what everyone else thinks is about to happen with the whisperers.

I just rewatched it. Very surprised at how graphic they went. Seeing Glenn with his eye popping out and bits of his head hanging off Lucille is so intense. Been watching this character for 6 years and now he's roadkill. Makes up for not seeing any main characters die/turn for like 3 seasons.

Well to be honest I think the comic really is only maybe a couple seasons ahead at most currently. The show is starting to catch up slowly but surely. Depending on how long they spend on the "All Out War" storyline with Negan and company, they could move on to the Whisperers by next season.

Kirkman also said this summer that he already has an end for the show in mind and that it's simply up to AMC as to whenever they want to end it (which, then yeah I can see this being a long haul). He said the comic will likely go on longer than the show.

That is a little more promising then. A lot of these story lines, including the "All Out War" one, seems like they could be condensed down to maybe this whole season if there isn't too much filler. If they really did follow everything from the comics, it seems like it would get pretty redundant at a certain point. I guess I do see it catching up though.

In reference to this currently ongoing Whisperers arc and its eventual introduction into the show, there is one thing I am most interested to see and that is the big time jump that occurs immediately after "All Out War" ends and Negan is imprisoned. While I'm not a huge fan of the Whisperers or their silly philosophy, I do like that time jump because it actually does allow the series to go in a refreshing new direction. We get to see what it looks like when this society begins to really rebuild itself into something established and new. It also allows us to catch up with the old characters and discover what has happened to them, changing them in the interim. So that's something I'm interested to see. If they choose to drag out the All Out War arc through next season, I'm wondering if they might employ that time jump in next season's mid-season finale or season finale. Really they could just finish All Out War off by the end of this current season, but I never know how long they're going to stretch these stories out for on this show.

Tbh I'm already bored with Negan so if he's going to be the focus for more than one season, I'm not sure if I'll watch it much longer

it would be such a waste to confine all out war/Negan to just one season, but I could see them teasing The Whisperers this season, maybe even fully introducing themselves into the conflict

I follow the show religiously and everything and I'll probably watch til the end, but do any of you feel as if this episode was kind of the end for you? They delivered and everything, but they hyped it up so so much it was overwhelming and kinda on a high note.

I was never big on the show, but I think I'm going to put it on hold for awhile and see if my friends that watch it say it gets any better.

I have absolutely no interest in watching another season of a bunch of horribly-written characters go through the same cycle of getting beaten down and worked into a corner by a Big Bad, then eventually rise up against him, while also spending multiple episodes of characters going off on inconsequential side missions.

The only reason I think they might power through All Out War this season is because it has been reported that Spencer dies his comic death in the mid-season finale, which, as we know, sets off All Out War in the next issue. So that would leave us with the last eight episodes of the season covering it, assuming that is the direction they're headed in.

Seems like a reasonable thing to do. Though I am looking forward to Carl's ark and if Maggie or anyone will blame Daryl for Glenn's death.

Like, what on Earth was Daryl thinking in punching Negan? One person already had their brains smashed in; did he not think his aggression would have any repercussions??
