thats what bums me out most. my heart has never raced like that during a tv show, and then they cinched out the flame with the cheap cliffhang

Such a buzzkill. I mean I know the comic scene by heart basically so I knew what was coming, but still had no idea tv could make me that anxious. Literally all they had to do was add in the final point of the bat at who got it and it's an all-time great tv moment. Ending with that first person was great if you just knew who died. So frustrating.

Honestly I thought Neegan's speech went on for so long that I kinda checked out, and knowing that it would likely be a cliffhanger also made me check out.

I think the scariest part of the ep for me was when they had the roads blocked and it slowly dawned on them that they were screwed. I feel like we rarely see that with the gang. Like they'll only be up against a handful of people so even tho it's not always probable, they get out of it. Or if it's against another community, they at least have a strategy. Knowing it was that many people up against them and they didn't have the upper hand was a really dreadful feeling.

Just realized Heath & Tara went out on their own as well, but they forgot about them for 3 weeks.

The cliffhanger didn't bother me as much, but I definitely can see why a lot of people wouldn't like it. I know they confirmed that at the beginning of next season, that they will actually show what happened, so I can see from their perspective of wanting to leave a cliffhanger to get people to tune in next season, haha but can see the frustration as well. Still intense though!

    That sounds promising.

Also, curious if this thread actually lost any viewers as a result of that finale. I know some people mentioned they would be done with the show, but I'm curious if they really are done.

Here is my thought process on the whole thing.

It's either Abraham, Glenn, or Eugene

It isn't any of the women, particularly Maggie, because AMC isn't going to show Negan beating the life out of a woman, much less a pregnant one.

It isn't Aaron, because AMC isn't going to show Negan beating a gay man with a bat.

It isn't Rick, for obvious reasons.

It isn't Carl, because beating up a kid doesn't really make Negan look all that intimidating.

It isn't Daryl, because fans would go nuts.

I think it's Glenn because they have already foreshadowed it so much. It could be Abraham or Eugene, because I don't think people really care about those characters that much.

eugene would be weak. imo they need to go with s1 cast. i was hoping carol cause i think she's ran her course and the morgan/carol arc is a snoozfest

    I'm Back.

The Daryl reasoning baffles me. His character literally adds nothing to the show, but he isn't a distraction either, he's just kind of...there.

Glenn isn't going to be very traumatic since he's already "died" twice; once during the prison attack and earlier this season.

He also should have died when Maggie was up on that lookout stand and Abraham came back in time and saved him. So stupid.

If it's Eugene, I'll be mad. It needs to be someone that really matters or they really blew it. If there's never a reason to worry about the main cast, it's just like who cares. They've been invincible for so long.

  15. I think Daryl would be the best choice at this point.

So there's a frame-by-frame and audio slowing analysis that narrows down who was killed to a very high degree of certainty, and even suggests who it was to a moderate degree of certainty. I'm going to spoiler tag it just in case people want to figure it out on their own or want to wait months for the fall premiere.

First, there are several short sequences spread throughout the episode that shows a vague cross-shaped light pattern. It is revealed near the end of the episode that this shot is from within the van that Michonne, Glen, Daryl, and Rosita are being kept in. It's not a leap to assume that this is actually a first-person point of view, given how it is shot. It's also clear that repeatedly showing this sequence serves a purpose, because it really doesn't advance the story. Because the first-person point of view has never been used before, it is also safe to infer that the point of view shown is the same point of view of the victim, whose, as we all know by now, point of view was shown for the final sequence. The purpose, I believe, is to imply that the point-of-view shown throughout the episode is the ultimate Lucille victim, which thus implies that the victim was one of the four people kept in the back of the van.

To narrow it down a little further, the first-person point-of-view shot briefly (a second or two) shows the top of Daryl's head as they get out of the van, so it couldn't have been his point of view. In fact, if you look at the following shots, the position of the point of view looks most like Michonne's or Glen's, but it really could have be anyone other than Daryl. Of course, some of the details could have been unintentional, but if you assume they aren't you can narrow it down quite a lot.

Now, in the audio slowing and enhancement of the final scene, you can hear several people screaming, two of whom can possibly be heard screaming "Glenn!"

So, I believe it was probably Glenn. It could have been anyone else in the van, but I also am considering the possibility that those details meant nothing, especially since the "goodbye" moment between Abraham, Rick, and Eugene was just to oddly inserted to not have some kind of significance. It's also hard for me to believe that they would make it a cliffhanger if they weren't just going to stay consistent with the comics.

@hypa_dude - Not the only time they've used that camera perspective! They were really brief moments in this season, but definitely help back up your theory. See what I posted before:

Yeah I remember him finding that and everyone commenting about how it could possibly be foreshadowing. I'm starting to think more and more it's him.

Also, concerning the point of view shots in the beginning and middle of the episode, I thought it was obvious that was from the perspective of Daryl?
