    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

It did feel a bit rushed considering it was extended to 90 minutes for the finale. I personally feel they should have left out the Carol and Morgan bits, and just focused on the Saviors blocking all attempts to make it to Hilltop. That way they could have expanded the final scene to not feel so rushed and not end as it did. Maybe flesh out that goodbye between Eugene, Rick and Abraham which now feels out of place.

Those weird armored dudes, they had to have been from The Kingdom, right? I'm not familiar with anything after issue 100 of the comics.

Those intimidation tactics by The Saviours is all they really need to be on top though, and even though Negan looks like (and probably IS) a regular dude he's still someone who lines people up on their knees and beats them to death with a barbed-wire baseball bat just to send a message!!! I think it's what he says and does that makes him intimidating, plus the atmosphere he's able to create with having such a big army ready to overpower smaller groups helps keep them controlled through fear.

the current big bad guy in the comics has huuuge potential if they get it right too!

That's what I am thinking but I am not convinced it was that important to show them that it would take away from the final scene and the introduction of Negan. That scene was probably the most anticipated scene in the shows history and they bludgeoned it.

  5. Yeah, that was a huge loss in the comics. I liked Denise, but I really want Abraham around. Even if he doesn't have the same bond with Rick (Daryl fits that spot nicely).

What's more impressive - leading a group of killers or leading a group of entire families (and still having bad intentions)

Of course I'm comparing him against The Governor.

I'm starting to get a little less pissed off about this the more I think about it...

I had the torch and pitchfork out like everybody else when I first watched it. I'm now starting to enjoy the conversations and the picking apart of who got to meet Lucille though.

I was firmly in the Abraham camp this morning for a few reasons:

    • "Taking it like a champ!" - If anyone can take a baseball bat to the head and still manage to hold their head high, it would be Abraham.
    • Screen Time - Abraham saw a huge amount of screen time this season, especially in the finale. Although the Eugene farewell was made out to be signalling the end of Eugene, it seems likely that it was an opportunity for Abraham to say goodbye to his longest serving friend in the group. Combine this with his hopeful look to the future with Sasha, and I can't help but think his days were numbered.
    • Bravery - Abraham looked the bravest out of that lineup (Carl amazingly coming in as a close second!) Straightening up toward Negan and not breaking his gaze would've made him a prime target to be made an example out of. Why would you want to leave a guy like that alive when the others all seem to be putty in your hand?
    • The Comics - Abraham should be dead by now. Replacing Denise with him allowed us to get to know Abraham a bit more though and fully see out his story.

However, I'm now back in the Glenn camp:

    • The Comics - The obvious reason.
    • That First Person Viewpoint - A rarely used viewpoint on this show that only seemed to be used for Glenn in this half season. 1) When looking at the pictures in the savior compound after killing the 2 in their sleep. 2) When looking back at Maggie in the side mirror when leaving Alexandria. 3) Possibly from his viewpoint when they were trapped in the box in the finale? 4) When he met Lucille..?
    • The Screams - If you checked out the slowed down audio as the finale closes out, a lot of it seems to indicate that Glenn could've been the victim.
    • Shutting That Shit Down - I know he said Glenn got a free pass for that one, but Negan doesn't seem all that reasonable to me.

If it is either of them I'll obviously be sad, but DAMN that is going to make for a great plot going forward. If it is anyone else, I'm going to be pretty disappointed (especially if it's Aaron or Rosita).

I do still think that I would've preferred seeing who it was now and then anticipating "What next? How do they go on without [insert person]?" when season 7 starts up. However, it's going to be one hell of a season opener if we kick off right where we left off...

Daryl could take the beating "like a champ." But him having two cliffhanger episodes in a row seems so stupid. I am leaning towards Glenn. Especially with the positioning of Negan and him pointing at the group before swinging. I think it's clearly Daryl or Glenn.

I wonder if it's true that the cast doesn't even know. That would be so fucked up lol They need to know so they can start auditioning for other things!

With all those men at his disposal it makes Negan far more intimidating as a villain - with the Governor it was more like watching a classic everyman's "descent into madness" storyline; . With Negan it seems "fucking lunatic" is the default setting for tone! We know The Governor had a family that he lost and that had a big effect on him; Negan is just bad because that's the way the world is now and you will see next season how well he commands the Saviours (SPOILER - as far as I'm aware The Saviours treat him like a God and every female in their group is one of his "wives"! - a much higher level of leadership than the Governor IMO)

It seemed as if Negan gave a pass to all of the people in the line up he talked to directly. Rick and Carl obviously, but he gave Glenn that pass, then said Maggie looked like shit and spent a moment with Abraham. Did he say anything to Daryl, I don't remember if he did or not. It would seem pointless to go back and attack one of the people he already spoke with. But who knows, I'm on the same boat as the people who believe AMC hasn't determined who will actually die.

    I'm Back.

That's true, and I guess the only reason I lean toward The Governor is because he has an entire community set up with people who trust and admire him...then he has the soldiers who know the "real" him...who is somewhat similar to Negan. So it's like he has some added leadership layers that we haven't seen from Negan.

I could be speaking way off base here, but is the Hilltop set up like a community or is it a militaristic type thing with the bare essentials and things they've scavenged and stolen?

Governor was a good leader because he knew exactly what to say to make his followers elevate him to the position of power - like that time he convinced that whole new group to attack the prison with one speech. He's like a "regular world" leader in that sense!

I don't know much about the Hilltop but i think it's on the "community" side.

    I'm Back.

With all of those crazy assholes, there has to be women, even if they're only there to "use".

Would be funny if they went the route of turning The Saviors into people who are just doing what they need to do to survive, and they have kids and shit running around. Then Rick realizes he can't attack them and they just decide to move on.

I find it hard to believe that either the actors/actresses don't know or season 7 picks up right where we left off. Such tension and emotion built up filming that final scene, you're just gonna call that a production and pick up at exactly that spot months later? I don't see them doing that.

I feel like it is Eugene based on the clues of the last scene. Specifically, how Negan's shadow goes to the right of Rick and signals the victim is on that side..

I hate to sound like I'm a comic snob (especially because I only started reading'em like a year and a half ago) but I just couldn't help but keep comparing comic Negan to TV Negan from the second he came on screen. Kinda killed the intensity for me in a way.
