Have never added the apple but can confirm it works without for avocados. The apple will probably just speed it up.

I know salt on watermelon has been a thing for years, but that’s got me scratching my head…

 

yeah it’s ostensibly an offshoot of the salt thing, I’ve heard about that before but mustard (oh and I guess it’s explicitly French’s) seems to be a new thing people are into

TIL: They Might Be Giants wrote and recorded this song with the intent of it being on their first kids album (No! which was released 2002), but they decided it was too morbid to be on an album for children so they released it on a different EP

 

TIL: There is a variety of apple that exists named the Black Diamond Apple. It’s specifically grown in the Tibetan region of Nyingchi and features a dark purple skin which is caused by the region’s high altitude and exposure to UV light.

They are very rare and not grown often since the trees that grow them take 8 years to mature and growing season only lasts 2 months. If in stores, they typically go for $7.55 a piece

 

TIL: The 7-Eleven by my work is apparently considered the fanciest in all of SoCal?…

 

Today I learned how retirement works in terms of a 401k and Roth IRA. And it's really embarrassing because I didn't realize it until now. I didn't think I'd be able to retire unless I went into a career that paid six figures or more and I saved a bunch of it. Now I'm finding out that I can retire with around $2 million by the time I'm 60. And then adding social security on top of it makes things a lot more comfortable. It's made the idea of settling into certain careers a lot easier for me.

 

TIL: In 1990 a British sitcom aired titled Heil Honey I’m Home!. The show’s premise was Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun living next door to Jewish neighbors they did not get along with.

The show (shockingly!) was cancelled after one episode

TIL: You can use M&Ms in pepper grinders

 

Today I learned that bath & body works sells sunscreen?! I smell amazing and am protected from the sun!! so pumped. All the spray ones smelled like alcohol so I wasn't a fan but the lotion is A+ and it makes me want to reapply (which is what I am terrible at) because I know that I will smell amazing

 

wtf. My wife and I frequent B&BW and I always stock up on body care stuff, but have never seen sunscreen there…

If I could use sunscreen that smelled like B&BW scents, that would change the game

 

I hadn't been in there in a while and had no idea that have laundry detergent and stuff now too. They're stepping up their game!!

 

And they have laundry fragrance beads!

 

TIL: Every international version of Sesame Street has a different version of Big Bird and they are all canonically cousins. This was done as a way to teach children about diversity
