Got my new addition today.

 

Got this chest piece mid-year in 2015, looking to get my 3rd one in a few months time.

Either gonna be a half sleeve on my left arm going up to my shoulder or a piece on my rib.

 

I've been debating getting the Dark Mark on my inner left arm for such a long time. I just think it would look so ridiculously cool.

 

Anyone here had any experience with tegaderm/saniderm/etc? I've been trying this method with my new piece since I have to go back to work straight away, never used it before though.

 

@colorlesscliche - Speaking of you mario one. I have wanted to get my first tattoo for a long time and I'm leaning towards some pixelated 8-bit or 16-bit sprites from NES and SNES. But I'm really cautious about someone messing them up. I've been trying to do research into finding people who specialize in it but haven't had any luck.

 

Going this weekend to get started on a piece on my shin. Gonna get DC Bombshell versions of Stargirl and Supergirl.

 

Looks dope.

 

I'm not sure anyone could really mess it up. If you print a picture of what you want, they'll basically just trace it on to you.

You got any tattoos recently? I hadn't really been keeping up to date in absolutepunk for a while.

 

Really wanting to get work done. Anxiety holds me back considerably.

 

I only have one at the moment and it's a pretty simple one. I got it back around 2010 or 2011. I have "fight off your demons" in cursive going up my right rib cage with these two dates: 12/17/1982 and 11/01/1995. Since it was my first tattoo and it was personal, I wanted to get one that was on a place that is considered to hurt the most and that wouldn't always be visible for my job. I have plans for a Bouncing Souls/River City Rebels/Cleveland (my hometown) piece in the future.

Care to share the importance of the dates?

 

Sure. The '82 date is the birthdate of my sister that died. The '95 date is the date of death of my grandfather on my mom's side of the family. He died a couple days before one of my birthdays in grade school.

 

Sorry for your losses! Glad that they had such a meaningful impact on your life though, and your tattoo sounds cool. I know how painful the ribs can be haha.

 

Thanks man. I appreciate that! I never knew that sister that I got the date tattooed of because I was too young and she didn't live very long, but it was always weird dealing with that growing up. Her death, while not directly, but in the fallout caused a bad rift on my dad's side of the family so that is really where the tattoo's tie to the text comes into play. It's not so much my demon, but a demon of those in my family. I eventually reached a point where I wanted to celebrate her short life rather than forget about it. I did have a close, but short relationship with that grandfather. He was awesome so I had to give him some love.

 

Seriously stories like this is what's so awesome about tattoos.

Unfortunately none of mine really have much meaning, I just really like tattoos and getting them. Something soothing about getting tattoos to me.

 

Thanks for the kind words man. I sort of think tattoos should come from one of two places. Something that is personal or something with a great story. Good or bad. I am totally ok with the drunken tattoo of something lame. At least the story of how the tattoo came to be is interesting and funny. Great convos can be had and that could totally make someone's day. The only tattoos I kind of shrug off are those that are not really inspired or have a cool/funny backstory. Tattoos should be a good conversation starter for friends and strangers. Just how you and I sort of talked about mine. Some people find it interesting and that's a cool thing to me. What's not cool is someone saying, "yeah, I saw this on the wall at the shop so I went with it". I mean that's great, but how is that benefiting anyone haha.

 

Both my siblings have tattoos and growing up Mormon, my mom was really disappointed when she saw them and I think still has resentment about them. I really want a couple different things and even though I have stepped out as the most vocal against the Mormon Church, I still have this unnatural fear/anxiety that my mom wont love me anymore if I get tattoos. Plus for years I've loved that despite any other shit I've done my mom is happiest with me for not having any. I should just suck it up and get them though because I have a couple that would mean a lot to me.

 

I am all about keeping the peace, so if I knew my mom would be super bummed I wouldn't do it. I would take the art, and try to turn into something else like a canvas painting or if it's text have a friend do some cool calligraphy for me.

 

I'll be honest i'm probably one of those people haha. It's whatever though, we all get tattoos for different reasons. I've never gotten one drunk, but then again i've only ever been drunk maybe twice? so yeah. This also is coming from someone that has Jesus riding a dinosaur tattooed on his arm because I thought it was hilarious and be an interesting conversation starter. You know what, it absolutely has, good and bad hahaha.

All i want to say is i've been in that situation where part of the reason i got tattoos was because I grew up in a VERY VERY Christian household and always felt that i would be disowned if I got a tattoo or piercing or anything like that. Days after HS Graduation I got both of my ears gauged to the largest size legal, a lip piercing, and my first tattoo. Next time my dad saw me he didn't say much about it, basically just that I was an adult and I could do what I want. I know this probably doesn't help but just felt like sharing my thought process at the time cuz it sounds somewhat similar to yours.

 

Why does a tattoo need to benefit someone? Cool art is cool art. I mean I like stories and meaning and everything, but nothing wrong with just repping some dope art from an artist you like imo
