Ya unfortunately the video game movie that became a megahit and opened the floodgates wasn't good like Raimi's Spider-Man was

 

spider man was never good. mario bros is fantastic

Spider-Man Raimi trilogy is good and so is this Mario movie

 

They're all 6.5/10.

 

SM 1 was corny but fun, SM 2 was a masterpiece, SM 3 wasnt great but nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be

Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy are the only good live action spider-man movies. Period.

 

i thought this was insanely fun. Exceeded all of my expectations. I agree with the general sentiment that the basic story is more or less nothing more than a generic Dreamworks style animation movie, but the Mario IP levels it up, and then the incredible amount of Easter eggs and nostalgia for adults brings it up another tier. I can't wait to watch it again.

And the post-credits scenes were fantastic.

Yep, a mid-credits and post-credits.

The mid-credits is Bowser performing another rendition of "Peaches", this time from inside a bird cage.

The post-credits scene takes place back in New York, where the camera zooms through some sewer and piping before reaching an open area. Smoke clears and it's a dinosaur egg. The egg cracks, and the screen goes black, and you hear "Yoshi!"

 

The Last of Us + Super Marios Bros BOTH being huge hits is what is going to usher in a VG cinema craze.

 

eh, maybe, video game movie adaptations is nothing new, i don't know if those two properties will necessarily BOOST anything, but i do think Nintendo will milk this for absolutely all its worth, and if they can put out good entertaining products, i'm all in.

the mere fact that they made that Yoshi post credit implies they're clearly planning to do more.

 

think I heard someone say this on The Big Picture but TLOU was a game that was structured like a movie that was then turned into a tv show and mario is mario so maybe these specifically aren't proof of anything

 

the person from Illumination getting on the nintendo board of directors or whatever does seem like a big deal though

 

yoshi's story film adaptation

 

like i'm not sitting here expecting a Red Dead Redemption adaptation because of the success of TLOU


but i dream

 

I need to play rdr2 again but I'll have to delete idk, everything else on my ps4 to do so

 

just buy another ps4
