Peach has always been written as a badass in the comics.

And no, I will not be providing context for why she's in Luigi's uniform.

Twitter is the worst. They're all spouting some bullshit about how this movie ruins her character and how she was better being useless.

They were saying it seriously too.

Miyamoto said one of the first discussions he had with Illumination is that he wanted Peach to not be a damsel in distress because he always wanted to make Peach less of that. So the people on Twitter complaining about “woke” Peach just because she isn’t a damsel in distress can cry a river.

I know people don't like the excuse that a film isn't made for critics, but sometimes I think it's a legitimately valid observation.

Like, every critic upset that this movie isn't aspiring to be more than a love letter to the games is missing the point that this is what a lot of people wanted this to be.

And considering how many game adaptations either ignore the games outright in favor of just capitalizing on the license, it's actually refreshing to have a film that does exactly what it says on the tin: adapts the source material.

I mean, I wouldn't mind if these soulless video game avatars were given a little more characterization and realistic personal growth in a feature film but TBH I was just surprised Mario's family is in the movie

They're also delving into Peach's origins, which is interesting to bring into question.

Sure was. Fascinating that Miyamoto has put any thought into that whatsoever lol

  23. Ok movies theaters need to install two little buttons by the exit, one with thumbs up and one with thumbs down. While walking out you need to hit one of the buttons. We call it the thumb score. Mario is at 69% thumbs up.

  24. But a movie could be thumbs down if I paid 15 bucks to see it and a thumbs up if I stream it for free

  25. john wick thumbs down because I needed a potty break
