This was way better than I expected.

Biggest letdown was Capt. Boomerang not showing up unexplained right at the end for extraction

I don't think Cena was bad. He played his role well. Yeah his character was a little flat, but I think that helped King Shark and Ratcatcher 2 pop more.

But I do think it was a weird role for someone you're giving a spinoff series too. Because he wasn't likable, but he also wasn't pure hateable in the same way a guy like Homelander is. He was just kinda there, which was fine for the story they were telling but if they also wanted to sell me on the spinoff they needed to leave me feeling "Damn I can't wait to watch this guy do a bunch of bad ass shit" or "Damn I can't wait to hate watch this guy be a total dick"... instead it just left me going "Damn I love Gunn's stuff enough that I'm still excited to see where he takes it even if i currently have no feelings towards Cena's character"

this movie is about how us intervention in a latin american ran by a "left wing" government which also seems to do the bad things of the right wing governments american back because why not, almost leads to a failed state situation resulting in slavery. but yeah those rebels are likely total gusanos and after feeling bad about all of them dying in that cool camp scene, I was delighted.

I'm going to be crucified for this, but I liked Suicide Squad more than this. Kinda bored me. Good scenes, but slow for me.

Thought this nosedived pretty hard after the first 30/40 minutes, then barely scraped by in the end. Oh well.

King Shark/Weasel team-up movie, though, please.

This film was great. I loved the dialogue between Bloodshot and Peacemakerz

I wonder if Gunn made a point to do so many action scenes in bright daylight (even super bright and sunny during a rainstorm) in response to criticism that DC movies are too dark

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yeah, not sure I need a Peacemaker show either. Cena was good but the character itself only really worked as a goofy, stuck-up foil to Idris Elba. the heelturn into making him a menacing villain in the third act didn't really feel earned to me and Cena isn't really a strong enough actor to pull the transformation off. I guess it could play if they just make the show a straight comedy, though

in general wish this had way more Harley and way less Flag - goddamn that dude is boring

  14. Really enjoyed this. Thought the whole main cast was great, and I'm glad they didn't focus too much on any of the villains. Loved King Shark and Polka Dot Man. Cena was good, mostly when he had Flag and Bloodsport to bounce off of.

King Shark in the Harley Quinn tv show is maybe my favorite character on television currently, so it’s a damn shame they reduced him to being this films Groot instead of a fully fleshed character.

All these DCEU movies are like 15-30 minutes too long, and I feel like Harley really regressed in this from where we left her in Birds of Prey.

That being said this joins BOP, Shazam, and Wonder Woman as being DCEU movies I would consider good.

Harley was way more entertaining and fun in Suicide Squad. Other than her one scene busting out of being captured, she fell flat.

This movie really drove the point home to me that having Synder in control wasn’t the best plan for DC’s cinematic universe.

I've always said DC should be the anti-Marvel. Give these characters to great directors and let them do whatever the fuck they want with them. Don't constrict yourself to some overarching mythos or force crossovers.

Let’s try that again. What I mean is that if WB from the start got people like Gunn to develop the movies versus Synder, DC wouldn’t have to be playing catch up to Marvel Studios like they are currently. Like this is hands down the first time since TDK that I actually enjoyed a DC movie and that’s bad.

that’s why I loved Aquaman, Shazam, Wonder Woman 1, and Birds of Prey. Yeah, they connected to the overarching plot, but it didn’t seem forced and are good by themselves.

I mean, there’s nothing wrong having an arc leading up to a JL movie or what not. Problem was WB wanted to rush that shit.

feel like they've been taking this approach for a little while now. aquaman and shazam are mostly not concerned with any overarching shit, while birds of prey did the least it could to acknowledge joker. as far as quality output (at least comparatively), i'd say it's paying off

I was excited for this, but it didn’t really do it for me. I didn’t find any of the characters interesting outside of Harley, Ratcatcher 2, and Sebastian the Rat and I know they’re villains, but I had a hard time rooting for them when they’re killing innocent villagers. I think this movie is also an example of why I don’t like R-rated superhero movies. The blood/violence was so over the top and unnecessary, it distracted and detracted from the rest of the movie, though that’s a view I know I’m in the minority on.
