Damn this thread is dead this year.

    I painted this guy yesterday.

This is the setup in my side yard this year, almost everything is homemade.

The Jack-o’-Lantern/Graveyard Keeper was definitely the most intensive. Built the armature out of PVC pipes. The head is a black foam pumpkin from Michael’s that I painted white, which ended up giving it some nice texture. For clothes I bought a turtle neck from a thrift store, a cloak from Amazon, and then draped it all in black cheese cloth. His lantern is from Amazon, as well. I can show more pictures of how I built it if anyone is interested.

The gravestones were tough as well. I’d seen tutorials online of people painting foam, then using a cutting tool to carve out the names/designs. I ended up just using an exacto knife for all of them, which took a while haha. The names on the stones are all puns for neighborhoods/landmarks in the town I live in.

The ghosts are tomato cages, with styrofoam semi-spheres on top to round out the heads. I’m sure people here have seen those before. Usually I put a strobe light inside them to light them up, but I think when I took this picture a couple of the lights were starting to fade out.

Lastly, got a great deal on pumpkins locally— about 30 for $60. So there’s a ton of smaller pumpkins throughout the graveyard, not sure if they can really be made out in the photo. And of course the larger one next to the graveyard keeper is just one that I’ve had in my family for decades.

Then of course, lots of webbing (there’s some more out of frame to left, going up my porch) and orange string lights.

    Happy Halloween!

Here's my newest pumpkin to add to my collection. It's just about done. Want to add a few more dark bloody spots, then need to find a way to safely spray a clear spray paint sealer so it can be outside.

I wont be carving a pumpkin until this weekend, but I've gone to a couple haunted trails this year. Been watching stuff on AMC fearfest every now and then too.

I bought a small skull cake last night from our CSA which was offering them as a special add-on, but other than that, this is the least spooky I have felt in my adult life. I really, really hate it, and I'm not sure what it is, but I have no motivation to watch or do anything scary, or to even grab my favorite Halloween decorations from the basement; I can't tell if I'm, like, just depressed or what, but I don't like it. Hopefully by Saturday, when I'm supposed to go to a 12 hour horror movie marathon, I'll feel a little more in spirit, but right now even seeing our neighbors' Halloween decorations is doing very little for me. Please send spooky vibes.

Only the first three movies are announced, and it’s witch themed this year! Rosemary’s Baby, Suspiria, and The Blair Witch Project. We buy tickets every year, but oftentimes we end up putting them to waste for one reason or another. Hopefully we actually end up making it this time because the last one we went to was in 2020 (which was outside because of COVID, and it was the coldest I’ve ever been but an absolute blast) and I usually discover at least one new favorite.

There aren't any good horror films that released this october either. I don't care for exorcist or 5 night at freddy's

Coolidge, right? I’ve never been, but regret not going like every year haha. It just starts so late.

However, the Mendon Drive-In has a lineup that same night of FNAF (which I don’t particularly care about), Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, The Evil Dead, and Dawn of the Dead. So I might go to that one.

Or if I’m too tired to do either— I guess Halloween is also playing in Showcase theaters on Saturday night, so I could just do that haha.

Yep!!! The Coolidge is a treasure and the marathon feels like sooo much more than just a movie marathon. You definitely need to experience it some year! It starting at midnight is rough, but people do bring blankets and pillows and doze off throughout the night. They also sell coffee and beer, as well as snacks, and my favorite thing in the past has been buying a burrito at 3 in the morning, haha.

That lineup sounds great! I really need to make it to that drive-in soon. I’ve always wanted to go.

My co-worker keeps telling me he's going to be Eddie Mercury for Halloween.

It's not some clever portmanteau costume like Eddie Munster meets Freddie Mercury, he just thinks that the guy's name was Eddie Mercury.

  24. We’re in a new house this year so wasn’t sure what the trick or treater situation would be like. Bummed that we had literally zero! The area a few blocks down was poppin though. Thankfully we didn’t go too hard with candy prepping

We had a pretty good trick or treat turnout this year. We still bought way too much candy though.
