Idk, I think you gotta be outta your mind to think Sam's visions and capability for violence and the entire arc of the core four and their relationship with Gale was accidentally wrapped up in a neat little bow at the end of Scream VI lol but to each their own

 

This franchise doesn't mean as much to me as it does to others, but I do love it, I would always be interested in seeing a new one, and this is the first time the choices being made (both politically and now seemingly narrative/financial?) are bumming me the fuck out. We don't need to make excuses for Scream, it's generally a very smart and successful franchise with a major fanbase that absolutely can and should speak up when the studio starts making choices that are questionable at best and unethical at worst

 

I love the series dearly but I’m definitely skipping seeing the new one in theatres because fuck the way they handled Barrera. I’ll watch it either streaming or other way.

So committing to the canon of 5 and 6 then, interesting. Til now I’d say 60% of me assumed they were gonna punch in at 5 and act like the last few years never happened

 

I am gonna predict that this new Scream film is gonna be sequel to the 4th film with 5 and 6 doesn't exist or I prefer to go the New Nightmare route and have the original cast return.. as themselves with a killer killing off the original cast one by one with Neve Campbell being the final girl at the end. Either way Spyglass really fucked up with the Melissa Barrera situation.

 

the morbid curiosity of how they're going to handle this might have me roped in again..lol

 

Yeah I'm so conflicted lol. I really want Melissa and Jenna back and Spyglass gone, but I wanna see what they do with it

 

Doubt I’ll go to the theater for it. I didn’t go for 6 in part because of how they treated Neve. But as happy as I am that she’s back and getting her bag I just don’t have a lot of faith left in the franchise. Unless they absolutely crush the marketing, which they won’t, it’ll probably be streaming before we know it anyway - the Melissa controversy severed so much of their target audience it feels like

 

I’ll see it eventually but 100% not in theaters

 

I hope this new one tanks. Maybe then Spyglass would sell off the franchise and we could get Melissa back. I'm still baffled they thought it was a good idea to fire her for speaking out against genocide.

 

I imagine they can just make a direct sequel to the whole franchise and only mention the characters from 5 & 6. Sidney was on the other side of the country anyway, so the new Ghostface would just be after her again.

But yeah also not paying to see this. Fuck Spyglass.

AMC does private theatre rentals tho! but i thiiink you need to choose from what's already playing. not sure if you can bring your own movie to do that kind of thing
also it's around $250
also obviously if you pirate a movie to do a screening at the theatre that's its own issue
buy a projector and find a nice big wall lolol
i'm not sure asking for donations at a private screening is illegal

 

Oh I was talking about my actual local theater. Not like a local movie theater. Lol It’s more of a theater for plays and musicals, but they have a screen that can come down and you used to be able to rent the whole theater and watch (reasonably) whatever you wanted. So I don’t actually know if they still do it anyway.

But no way that would fly now. Something like that would spread and go viral now. Then I’d have Spyglass after me for some bullshit reason that I just wouldn’t have money to fight them on. Still not paying for that movie though. Lol

edit: forgot to mention this. You need a license to actually screen movies. Party at your house is cool. Once you leave the home, a license is needed.

 

Yep. A lot of them are cheaper than you'd expect, though. I think we got The z nightmare Before Christmas for our Horror Fest this year for under $300.
