  1. I assume he is sleeping bedside in a basinet.

He will wake up every two hours to get changed and fed so that is how often we checked lol. I guess I didn't worry about it.

  2. I was more concerned when we put him in the crib and could roll over onto his stomach.

My son is 8 months now, and I still check on him when he sleeps to make sure he’s breathing. It’s a habit I guess.

My kids are nearly 5 and 2 and my wife gets up a bazillion times a night to go check on them in their rooms.

We were the same way the first few days but he’s more like you than you think. So if you are comfortable in x number of layers it’s likely he will be too.

If you can, the baby owlette was a lifesaver for my wife on our 2nd child. It’s a little monitor that straps to their foot and measures the heart rate and oxygen and sets off an alarm if they go outside of certain parameters.

They sent us home with an apnea monitor because we basically made it very clear we weren’t extremely happy with him being discharged yet haha. But I am def gonna look into that

It was definitely awhile before we stopped worrying about breathing. It's only natural to have those feelings

I really wish my daughter's cough would go away. It keeps us up all night. :(

Alright experienced parents, how’d you deal with a baby that is almost never comfortable on his back? He pretty much only sleeps well when we’re hding him/he’s laying on our chests. Which is okay for parts of the day but obviously not at night, and I’m paranoid even during the day about laying down too flat with him on my chest because of all the warnings about SIDS and etc

I don't consider myself experienced by any means but my son slept on my chest at night for beastly the first 3 months of his life because it was the only way for any of us to actually get sleep.

I wouldn't sleep completely laying down and used an armed pillow so that I was basically leaning up in bed. It wasn't the most comfortable but like I said it was what worked and kept us sane so I did it.

Have you tried the DockATot? My wife and I used the DockATot for our second child and it was a life saver. It's like a little skinny dog bed for babies, haha. That's pretty much all my daughter slept in for the first five months. We even put it in our bed (it's raised) between my wife and I.

Neither one of my kids ever slept in their pack n play and it took between 5-6 months to put each in their crib..and even then it's a crap shoot for the first few years because most babies will not sleep in their crib throughout the entire night.

Don't have any advice, but just wanted to wish you luck! Also, mine slept on my chest and his moms quite a bit. But if you aren't comfortable, don't do it.

Yeah, we used a bassinet that went in our bed between us so we could keep an eye on them sleeping and also be able to just stick our hand in to try and calm them down if they woke up. Then as they got a little older we ended up using the rock and play to help get them to fall asleep.

There isn't really any perfect answer, you just do whatever it takes for everyone to get some sleep

If he doesn’t like lying flat on his back, you could try a crib wedge ( I think that’s what they’re called) that goes under the mattress so it’s a little bit of an incline. We used a rock n play with our kids (im not sure if they sell them anymore though) because it was at an incline and it hugged them in a little so they didn’t startle themselves awake as much. Our swing was a lifesaver with our youngest. We have one that has the option of side/side and front/back swinging motions. If your little one likes to be swaddled, they also make swaddles that have a hole in the back so you can buckle them into the swing and then swaddle them, which is what we did. The first months were stressful and unpredictable, and sometimes methods that seemed to work for the kids some nights wouldn’t work other nights. I coslept for at least a little while with each of ours because sometimes that was the only way we could all sleep. Every family and every baby is different though, and I hope you find something that works for your family.

  20. Gotta get a vibrator for the bassinet if you don't have one.

Also every baby is different. It's crazy how different they all develop even though they get to the same place by the time they start school for the most part

We had that same one and it was a life saver for the first 6 months or so until she grew out of it late last year. Scary stuff, thankful we didn't have any issue with ours.

We've got this pillow thing which is like an oval of cushion with a netted sheet in the middle for the baby to lay on. It's great coz the shape of the cushion helps them feels supported and stops them rolling around, but the netted sheet means they won't suffocate if they are on the front coz they're raised slightly above the mattress underneath and can breathe through the net. Can't remember the name of our cushion and not home at the moment to check, but I'll try to remember to look later for you.
