Unfortunately no. Actually the opposite - she’s becoming bitter about friends that are having no complications in their pregnancy. She is aware that that’s a bad thing to feel but is having those feelings all the same. It’s tough. We were very open about our first and that helped - partially because we had announced. We thought that made us strong. This time is tougher for sure. This thread is helping me and I share your well wishes which she enjoys so hoping after a week or so it starts to suck less. Gonna be able to write a whole record around this part of growing up.

Y'all listen to Story Pirates?

 

Never heard of it. What ages is it good for? Where can we find it?

 

It's a podcast, I'd say for ages 4+. They take submissions of stories written by kids and then turn it into a radio play.

 

Got an offer on our home today, and they want to close the day prior to my wife being induced next month. And then we're moving/driving 12 hrs up to Cape Cod once we get discharged, so life should be... interesting for the first month or two with a newborn and 5 year old.

Damn, I thought it was nuts when we moved 6 weeks before my wife was due. Good luck, it’s crazy but will be fun too I’m sure

 

Ha, yeah... gotta love how one way or another the Army always decides to do things like this to us throughout my 10 years. Thanks though!

 

Tough day in the fam. All my wife wanted was a large fries and coke from McDonald’s to come down from the day and the fucking soda machine at our local McDonald’s was broken. :|

 

You guys need a vacation, ha. I'm serious though, it may work wonders to get away for a night or a weekend if you're able, just to try and get your mind off things.

 

Daylight Savings Time was a NIGHTMARE this year. Threw off both my kids sleeping schedules so bad. We put my son to bed at his normal time (8 p.m. - but really, it was 7 p.m.) and he just laid in bed wide awake until about 10 or so...he kept asking us to bring up this blue car and my wife and I had no idea what he was talking about and he kept freaking out that we couldn't find it. Then at 2 a.m., he woke us up screaming and he was in his sister's room, which has never happened before. Not sure if he was sleepwalking or something, but it was weird.

My daughter didn't sleep well either, tried to put her in her crib at like 8:30 and we had to bring her back down because she was just so wide awake. Slept better than my son though.

 

We were very lucky and the time change didn't mess us up too bad. We got a late start to the day and then just tried to slowly readjust everything so we were only like a half hour different. We also kept our oldest very busy with a very short nap so by the end of the day she was pretty exhausted.

 

So far the only one who is getting messed up by daylight saving in our house is me. But I am glad that bedtime wasn’t too difficult for the kids.

Also, the crib transition is not going so great anymore. He wakes up around 10/11 every night, and if I’m not in the room yet, he can settle himself after awhile and fall back asleep. Most of the time I am in there though, and more often than not, I just don’t have the energy or patience to listen to him cry himself to sleep again, so he ends up in the bed with me. Some nights he will fall back asleep in his crib after eating with minimal/no fussing and will stay there until morning. And he goes down for his naps in his crib without any issues, so there is still hope! Haha

 

At least you're at the point where you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and finally get your bed back to yourself! Hah!

I'm getting ready to set the PnP up in our room so it's starting to get really real as to what's in store in the near future!

 

My son has been saying "I'm Sowwy," "Yikes!" and "Oh my goodness!" To just about everything lately and it's pretty hilarious and adorable

 

I was at the store with my mom and kids today, and Shayley sneezed, and my mom said "God bless!" So naturally his response was "God dammit!"

 

Haha oh man! Did your mom say anything?

 

Not really; we try not to laugh or react when he says it in hopes that it won’t encourage him. It was funny though because the lady walking by heard it and turned around with wide eyes.

 

I took my two oldest kids to the cheap movie theater on Saturday to see Ferdinand. My son and I liked it, but my daughter slept right through it. I guess she thought it was a bunch of bull.

 

I am the WORST at laughing when not only MY son is acting up or doing something we'd rather not encourage but when OTHER people's kids are doing something I can tell their parent doesn't want/like.

We took our 2 year old to see a free screening of Coco in the event we had to leave, no loss. He loved it! We were sure we'd have to leave early and it just didn't happen. That was awesome. I just wish it weren't a 3D showing. He got tired of the glasses 3/4 of the way thru.

 

My kids loved Coco too, but I couldn't think of any good jokes about that one. Such a great movie.

 

I laugh when kids I'm watching throw a tantrum to try and get their way. Shit's hilarious

 

If you were a parent you'd find it more annoying eventhough it can be quite funny at times

 

Nothing like attempting to put a Pack and Play together and thinking man this is simple and shouldn't take that long to setup.

3 hours later... FUCK THIS it's staying how it is!




Summary of my Monday night

 

Oh man I remember breaking one with my first on vacation. My wife was so mad at me because she was convinced I did it out of frustration, but I legitimately just could not get the thing together right and it happened.
