Jesus man that's an awful lot to tackle at one time, Godspeed in getting everyone back to full health. I'm sure it's hard on y'all too having to see her like that.

Fortunately my dude hasn't been phased by this as far as we can tell, only issue is a fever and he doesn't seem to want to eat, but Dr said that's normal and should go away in a few days, just keep him hydrated and try feeding Jello or something.

I feel fortunate in the fact that this is really the first time he's been sick, and at 2, I'd say that's pretty damn good.

I had to look up what a hassock was hah.

Haha that's pretty funny, you really don't realize how young they pick up on things.

Awwwww, guttural baby laughs are the absolute best! What triggered this one? Were you able to replicate it consistently? I remember the first time I made my son laugh like that and I couldn't get enough.

Thanks. Both my kids are going to the doctor at 11 a.m. today. My daughter is doing a lot better than she was last week. My son's croup was really bad at the beginning of the night last night, but seemed to do better as the night went along. We did the steam showers and at one point, actually took him outside in the cold for a few minutes (both are good for opening up airwaves).

I feel like my kids are always sick. My son has gotten the flu three times and has had several sinus infections. Now that he's in preschool and around other kids a lot, he's bringing home all sorts of germs, which in turn he's passing on to our near 5-month old.

It's crazy. Once one kid is sick, it's like everyone gets sick.

Hopefully your son gets better. Isn't it amazing how well they act when they're sick? I know with my son, he still has crazy energy and you could never tell when he's sick except a few minutes throughout the day. Your lucky this is the first time he's been sick. Is he in daycare, or around other kids often?

I think their brains are still just learning that they don't always fully understand that their body is weird ya know? Haha pretty insane!

Nah, my wife doesn't work and stays home with him. They do go to storytime at the library every week so he does get interaction with other kids.

My kid threw up (very, very little) for the first time a few weeks back. He cried pretty hard cause you could tell he had no idea what just happened. After I cleaned him up and held him, he was back to his normal self. It was so heartbreaking though, cause he just looked down like, why did that just come up? And he pointed to his belly and said "ow", which was also heartbreaking, because he does the same thing when he falls and scrapes his knees or something. So you knew he knew what pain was, but it was all internal so his look of confusion was just so sad.

Any of your kid get stitches yet? That's also a terrible feeling. My son last January hit his head on a table that required 4 stitches. It was worse for my wife and I than it was for him. He actually fell asleep during the stitching. I almost passed out watching them do it, haha.

No, but doc said my kid has a hernia, and will have to be put to sleep and get stitches, I think inside and outside. I'm scared shitless, mostly because of the sleeping part.

Apparently it's very common, and a bit different than adult hernias. But we noticed one of his balls swells up sometimes, so we went in for that. He sent us to Hopkins to see a urologist and that's what they came up with. We're going to a second urologist for another opinion, so we'll see how it goes.

Damn that sounds rough @colorlesscliche hope it all goes well.

@ncarrab he hasn't had stitches yet but a few months ago he was playing and tried and fell face first into our coffee table and started to bleed a bit. Obviously he was crying pretty good, which he really only does if he's REALLY hurting, and we calmly tried to figure out where the bleeding was coming from in his mouth. Which was hard trying to get a 2 year old to open his mouth or let us did around a bit to figure it out. Luckily he just bit his tongue a bit and no teeth damage or anything.

Also a few months ago my wife took him for a play date with a couple of other Mom's she met at weekly storytime. Well they were playing outside at the playground and whatnot and he managed to sit in an antbed. He calmly walked over to my wife and said "Oww, back, hurt" so her and the other Mom quickly brushed all the ants off of him meanwhile he didn't fuss at all and really only kinda freaked out a tiny bit because they were frantically brushing the ants off and taking his clothes off and such.

That's really the only bad things that's happened so far thankfully, fingers crossed!

Haha my dad always called it a hassock so that's probably why I never think to say ottoman.

But my husband was holding him and blowing raspberries but high pitched (if that makes sense?) and he just kept laughing. He did it again later and August started laughing again. I don't think I could ever get sick of my kids laughing

We just put mittens on my son with just the thumb. Anything else is too hard to get all his fingers in each sleeve.

Look at the link I posted, that's what I ordered, but it's still very difficult. I was thinking maybe switching to less thick, more cotton-type mittens. Is that what you use?

My son has both. The problem with cotton ones are, they get wet very easily, which really, makes matter worse. I'm surprised the ones you linked are that difficult. Isn't the middle part just an open section?

It is, yes, they're just so thick and padded that it makes it very hard to move his fingers around.

So tell me something awesome Supporter

Because of me being an idiot over the weekend, my youngest son discovered today that I'm not his biological father. As dumb as it may seem to react this way, I'm sitting here at work crying and wondering whether or not he'll still love me now.

I'm sorry man. You're the only dad he ever had though, I'm sure it changes nothing. He's also very young, maybe he doesn't really grasp what he heard anyway
