For a band who has had as much commercial success as The Offspring, their profile is extremely limited both due to the lack of social engagement as well as a lot of behind-closed-doors type business dealings that, fair or not, I think have left a bad taste in some people's mouths.

 

Looks like they settled. There was a Order to Show Cause Re Settlement hearing scheduled for today I think.

Every The Offspring Album Ranked

 

“Days Go By” definitely deserves last, if only for the inclusion of “Cruising California.”

 

It’s a good ranking. I’d probably put Let the Bad Times Roll at the bottom but that’s about it lol

 

I don't like the first two albums as much as they do, and I think the last two albums are fine, not great, but fine.

 

I wouldn't even rank Ignition or self-titled, no thanks.

I definitely like Rise And Fall way more than they do, and I think my least favorite is a tie between the new one and Splinter. Way too many "joke" songs on the latter and too many throwaways on the former.

 

I still love The Offspring for the amazing years / memories they brought in my younger years but damn they’re last few albums and the drama with Greg has made their later years a bitter pill hard to shallow.

Rise and Fall is a top three Offspring album

 

I barely listen to this band's albums in full but I always thought Rise and Fall was great. You're Gonna Go Far Kid is like the perfect pop-punk tune

 

Rise and Fall was great, I still hate the artwork though.

Quite a lot of Green Day sounding songs on that record.

 

I had been avoiding R&F,R&G because I heard people say bad things about it but I really like it. It's got clever songs, funny songs, banger songs and their most recent hit. About the only knock against it is Rise and Fall sounding a bit too similar to American Idiot and the ballads being a bit generic.

 

Eh?

 

I've always really loved the song Nothingtown from that album

I honestly can't rank the most recent three albums because I haven't listened to them enough. However, I will say the Dividing by Zero/Slim Pickens stack is one of the best things this band has ever done and stands up to even the most classic material. It's just a perfect encapsulation of what they do well and shows that when they're "on", no one else does it better.

 

"You're Gonna Go Far Kid" which is, believe it or not, their most streamed song on Spotify.

 

I guess it depends on what you quantify as a hit, as "Days Go By" and "Let The Bad Times Roll" both charted high on rock formats, which is where I'd generally expect rock bands to chart.

It just sounds off to say "their latest hit" and have it be two albums back and 15 years ago, which is wild to think about, while I'm at it.

those rankings are so hard to take seriously because they always just put the early albums first. there are plenty of scenarios where its true, but their ranking system is just lazy.

 

Obviously different opinions and all but as said above, You're Gonna Go Far Kid is a smash in a way that no song off the last two records has managed. Days Go By isn't even in the live set any more, doubt the title track off this album will survive this cycle, etc. Just meant to say they were still operating on all levels 15 years ago in a way their more recent output has lacked.

 

Well, I'm not gonna argue that. I mean, this last album was really disappointing for something that took so long to put out. There are songs I enjoy off of it, but did they really need to have a cover of "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" and a remake of "Gone Away"? Those are things you put on a rarities comp, not on a proper album, IMO. It just reeks of realizing how long it's been and deciding to just throw everything on a disc and put it out there.

 

Is Bob Rock the only producer who will work with these guys? Lol switch it up or something

 

Sidenote, but is there a reason "Staring At The Sun" has remained the one non-single setlist staple since '99? It is almost in EVERY show played to this day.

 

It's SO stale at this point.
