  9. Great question. I've only ever personally encountered this when the poc in question came from money - which, I've found, is one of the most difficult barriers to breach when trying to have a sociopolitical conversation with someone. So I usually just try not to get into those conversations because I've never found a good way to handle it.

Oh my god. Trump supporters are claiming that she used her kid as a shield.

Apparently, there were Facebook videos that she posted which were subsequently deleted. Very suspicious.

Trigger warning. This doesn't show any bloodshed or anything like that, but it is moments before Korryn Gaines was murdered. Keep in mind they were there to arrest her for traffic violations. This is why they sent in these men:

It's not often that St. Louis citizens can be hopeful, given the state of city's economic decay and stratification about just about anything political, but this primary season has really been about as uplifting as could be imagined with regard to the organization of our black community. Today was Missouri's primary election day and, of the Democratic candidates, more than two-thirds were black St. Louis natives, many Ferguson activists. What has been even more interesting still is the growing distinction of the grassroots black left here and the fact that they are challenging somewhat-blue dog black Democrats in three separate races. Today, and all throughout the past two weeks, the streets and sidewalks have been swarmed by young and old black activists doing door-to-door, petitioning for body cameras, and the like.

So, with that, here's a video from one of my favorite guys running currently, Bruce Franks, who is challenging Penny Hubbard, a black representative who has labeled him as an insurgent from the Republican enemy.

No. They sent in a SWAT team because she was armed with a shotgun and was aiming it at the police that were there to peacefully serve her an arrest warrant. And not just for "traffic violations", but resisting arrest, failure to appear, etc..

Not to mention, she was also harboring another individual in the same apartment that was wanted on assault charges. That individual ran and was later arrested.

Okay? I read all of this and I'm still uncertain as to why she is dead. The cops said that this woman, who by all accounts was one hundred pounds, held a baby, threatened to shoot them, got shot, then returned fire before being shot multiple times. This does not add up in my eyes. Barring that, even if one concedes that their story is consistent, there are innumerable videos and instances in which white folks have threatened the police, only to be able to walk away without a scratch.

Also, there is no "peacefully" when it comes to police officers as we have seen over the past few years.

She is dead because she was armed, threatened the police, and then subsequently shot at them. It is incredibly sad and heartbreaking, but I find it difficult to fault the police here. It did not have to end this way.

I'm just curious as to what doesn't add up in your eyes. It all seems crystal clear to me.

I laid it out. It doesn't make sense to me the way the police say it transpired. Also, the police shot at her first, after she threatened them. According to them, her words and her defensive nature are the actions which led to them shooting her. Again, accepting your point, why is it the case that the police consistently use deadly force when it comes to black people, as opposed to their white counterparts. I do fault the police, because it is their racist nature which has created hostility and distrust towards them. They are, in effect, the source of the hostility, so the idea that they can enter a scenario in a peaceful way for a black person has proven to be demonstrably false.
