May sound a bit extreme, but in my opinion nobody is doing it better than John R. Miller right now.

As far as pop country goes, this is pretty good

Yeah excited for Margo. Also, everyone should check out Stephen Wilson Jr. His album Søn of Dad is out today. He kinda reminds me of Travis Meadows.

First artist that comes to mind is Willie Watson bc he takes a similar approach to Fussel where he takes old folk tunes and gives them his own spin.

I don’t really think of Fussel as country but more folk blues, so I’d also recommend Charlie Parr, Ryley Walker, Phil Cook, and maybe Steve Gunn.

  10. Speaking of Gillian…trying to not be upset she and Dave have been working on this instead of that goddamn Revelator vinyl self-pressing they’ve supposedly had in the works for 5+ years haha

New Charles Wesley Godwin out today. Fans of Zach Bryan would possibly enjoy, they seem to be buds and have toured together some. Will be surprised if he’s not one of the next guys to really blow up.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival was this past weekend, and I had a blast. Highlights were Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Sierra Hull, and Margo Cilker. Sierra Hull did a bluegrass version of “Mad World” that was stunning. I only caught part of Christone “Kingfish” Ingram’s set, but what I heard was pretty incredible as well. But he’s a blues guy, not country or bluegrass.

Saw Erin Rae last night at a small local venue, and she was great! Her opener, Skyway Man, while not as folksy, was amazing as well.

Loved his last album. Listened to this once and sounds like he picked up right where he left off. Hope his career finally starts to pick up some steam.

This one is actually a Warren Zevon tune I believe, but you are right it’s incredibly well done.

If the only metric you measured an album by is the number of incredible songs on it American Heartbreak would be one of the greatest albums of all time.

Jordan Davis just announced as playing here in Oslo next February - think I'll go to that one!
