10. I Need My Girl - legendarily perfect song that most bands could never even think of writing

12. Pink Rabbits - the best song ever written

All personal opinion isn't it - the beauty of debating music!

IMO Demons, Fireproof, Heavenfaced (including the worst 30 seconds of music they've ever penned, when Berninger randomly whips out his rhyming dictionary), TITLT, Slipped and Hard to Find are all skippable snoozers

 

I will say Demons has def grown on me but was the only track I was indifferent towards on first listen. I really enjoy it now

 

This is the Last Time is a top 10 National song for me lol, and I love Demons even if it's not a standout.

Buuut I'll agree with a lot of that list. Fireproof is terrible, and Heavenfaced & Hard to Find are for sure snoozes. There was really no need to include all three of Heavenfaced, Slipped, and Hard to Find imo. That said, while having easy skips is a bummer, there's 8+ songs of A level National material on it, so despite its faults it's a really good album.

 

Slipped is incredible and just as good as Pink Rabbits.

 

I like Slipped. Easily the best of the slower ones on that album. Weird though that for a band that is so good at slower stuff, and on an album that is otherwise very great, the slow ones are among the weaker tracks.

 

I love Hard to Find

 

Heavenfaced is so great. Slipped is pretty easily my least favorite on the album. Still like it, though.

Graceless is the best song on TWFM and the best song ever written I have spoken

Don't Swallow the Cap is easily my favorite song on there, Pink Rabbits is close though

Really dig Graceless but it took a while to grow on me. It's up there on the album for me now tho

 

Graceless would be one of the best National songs but the lyrics are weeeeaaaak

 

It may be my least favorite National song. I find it so boring.

 

Sea of Love is probably my favorite. But Slipped is up there too.

Depending on the day my favorite could be any of I Should Live In Salt, Graceless, Don't Swallow The Cap, Humiliation, or Pink Rabbits, ha.

 

best tracks on the album are the run from TITLT through to Pink Rabbits, Humiliation being one of their most underrated songs imo
