yeah the premise is a little goofy but I do like the line about burying the undeveloped cameras

I see the appeal of a song that tackles the feelings and memories and surprises/non-surprises one plays in their head after a breakup but you also do need to figure out what to do with all the stuff. Dealing with new logistical shit when you barely have time to deal with all the other shit is the real art holding up a mirror to society.

I haven’t seen The National yet (in May!) but from other LA shows I’ve been to the crowd sat the whole time during The Smile, Weyes Blood, Beach House, Bon Iver, etc so I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens at their shows lol

    Love the new song!

  7. I would have been losing my shit if I'd heard this live last year, that ending's going to rule at a show

Eucalyptus wild ending into the clean guitar on New Order is such a nice complimentary transition. It makes me enjoy both songs more. Hoping that my initial guess that this will be a more subtle album that works as a whole, even by National standards, proves true and that each song compliments the other like this. Stoked.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

this record is very very good. if New Adventures in Hi-Fi is in your top 3 REM you'll love this

theoretically you would absolutely adore it but your chaotic neutral posting in this thread makes me hesitate to guess your reaction to anything lmao

The National are one of the 4-5 core things I’ve consistently loved over the last ~20 years and I let myself get sloppy and embarrassing about them online. And also everything I’ve ever said about High Violet and the Bloodbuzz Bois is 100% accurate.

But, for real, stoked for the new one. I also keep forgetting I have LA tickets in May so extra pumped.

  19. I like "Eucalyptus" the less I listen to it honestly, also worried I may have outgrown this band :( still excited for the record and hoping that isn't the case

It’s like the scene in Her when AIScarJo says goodbye to JoaqPhoen forever because she has to go to someplace else where her exponentially multiplying consciousness can be respected and engaged appropriately.

  21. Eucalyptus is fine I guess

  22. What if you’ve never really understood why people compare this band to REM

Sorry if that seems like an attack, I promise it’s not. I’ve just never gotten that at all. HiFi is top 5 but not top 3 for me anyway lol
