For me, yeah its simple and straight to the point, but sometimes I'm in the mood for exactly that. I quite like the guitar tone they use on the album as well, especially for the intro of "Mud". Caveman metal really.

 

One comes from warhammer, a table top rpg, and the other from dark souls, a video game.

 

I don't remember if anyone on here listens to his stuff but Devin Townsend has released a new (metal this time apparently) album

 

he produced one of my favorite albums of all time (deliver us) and ripped to shreds on "full imperial collapse." outside of that i am unfamiliar with his game but that alone earns much respect

Feel like Devin Townsend is a wormhole I haven’t delved into properly yet. There’s a post on r/progmetal where they go crazy in depth on all his stuff. I’d recommend looking that up if you’re trying to figure out how to start with him.

Hitting play on The Acacia Strain for the first time as they've been namedropped a bunch lately, here we go

 

they’re so good lol their two albums from 2023 are my favorite (step into the light and failure will follow) but 3750, the dead walk, wormwood, death is the only mortal, gravebloom, coma witch, and it comes in waves are all amazing. I’m a little more mixed on slow decay and continent and I don’t like the debut much at all

 

The Dead Walk definitely broke me into much heavier music. I still play it from time to time. If only that snare was a little more crisp.
