Never understood the hype of that band

 

I dig Torture. Sick drumming and low IQ mosh chugging. Just wish the latest album wasn't as long as it was.

At Furnace Fest the people wearing TORTURE shirts were some of the oddest birds I saw. Big time "boy scout who also loves model trains while fighting in the pit" energy.

I don't really care that much for most slam, but dude coming out, yelling Free Palestine and then playing the craziest drum parts to chugs is cool as hell.

That being said, I don't really know why they blew up like they did. Maybe Tik Tok?

Yeah, it seems like a destined to fail type thing to me. Yet, Sunami is still going strong

 

I wonder if these bands still do altar calls like they did in 2006

I've been riding high on my Jesus bands the last few days because of FF. They've all basically dropped that, and some of them are acting like they're trying to make up for all the cussing they missed out on earlier in their careers (looking at you, Underoath and TDWP). They all still put on great shows though. August Burns Red, Haste the Day, Underoath, Norma Jean, and Oh Sleeper were all fantastic.

 

Replace model trains with Dungeons and Dragons and this is me to a T. :)

 

They're also disturbingly different than a lot of slam in there's a lot of clear hardcore influence there to my ears. A lot more chugging than a slam band like Devourment or Pathology like I'm more familiar with from my youth...but yeah, echoing the sentiment about having no idea how they blew up especially when their first couple of releases were gorenoise as opposed to slam.

 

By the way, be grateful for all your early metal and hardcore shows because my buddy went to see Nicki Minaj (why?!) last night and she didn’t even go on until 1130pm…

Torture were a lot better live than on the record but damn some of that shit is fun to just turn off your brain and play video games or work out to.

 

At the Undeath show in Austin. Emptiest I've seen a show in quite a while.

Tribal Gaze and Gates To Hell were sick though.
