The new Warbringer slays!

 

Was going to pop in to mention this. Listened to it twice today, pretty fun album

 

Yeah, new Warbringer is sick. Not sure if I like it more than Havok yet but its at least on par.

 

Listening to Shai Hulud for the first time. Digging these riffs.

I've never really been able to get into Body Count and this new album isn't doing much to change that unfortunately =/

 

No more so than their other albums, really. Ha. It's got a distinct Depeche Mode-at-their-darkest vibe imo. So I'd say that it's probably the most immediately accessible to mainstream audiences thing they've ever done, but not really weird.

It's wild how Ulver have traversed so many different genres and stylistic directions over their career without ever compromising the artistic soul or quality of the music. The new one's another solid addition to that catalog.

 

Now hopefully they tour over in the US again. I missed their last show because of a conflict.

 

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on Body Count too. I just haven't been able to get into them at all...it just seems derivative.

 

New solo album from Jake Bannon of Converge. Atmospheric doom/post-rock. It's pretty solid...need to give it another listen or two to really form an informed opinion.

 

I've been seeing a lot of news about this over at The PRP but I haven't checked it out yet.

 

I felt the same way about Body Count for a long time, but this new record got me on board. The Slayer covers are well executed. I'll admit, some of the originals remind of me Hed PE (who I actually like) but there are also some really killer solos on the album and the back half is more straight ahead heavy and less "numetal/rap" - It's not my favorite record of the year or anything, but it was WAY better than I expected and I'll probably revisit it from time to time.
